Of course it always depends on you... but I just purchased an HDTV last fall, and if I did it again, I'd go with my decision to get an inexpensive phone (magenta RAZR) and an LCD HDTV over an expensive phone, iPhone or not, in a heartbeat. I've enjoyed watching TV so much more ever since I got this. It's as if DVDs even are re-born, they look so much better on an LCD than on an SDTV. And my phone? Well, it still puts up with me talking for 1.5 or 2 hours a night with my girlfriend. :p

Go for the HDTV, and wait for Rev B. of the iPhone and you will have the best of both worlds...and while you wait you can save for it!!! :D

im interested in finding out which one you chose after all. I wonder how different this thread would have been if it was created after the iphones release...

HDTV and Iphone have one thing in common. They're both going to cost you more in the long-run.

Iphone - contract, data plan, overages, ect...
HDTV - price delta from "SDTV" in your cable / satellite plan.

I think you'll appreciate the HDTV longer - then again, I don't see a whole lot of greatness in any HDTV less than 40". Unless it was REALLY close or you have 12/12 vision.

On the flip side, Iphone does have the zing, and some of us need the zing.

It's so small. Personally I wouldn't go any smaller than 37" for an HDTV. Well that and one with more than 1 component input. Oh, and I would so get a 1080P set. 720P sets are so yesterday!

Sure, you could also buy everything including a 52-incher and go thousands of dollars into debt...=D

In fact why buy just one? I would get one for every room in your house.

:D My wife would shoot me if I did that. Although I am working on getting a 37" Westinghouse for the bedroom though.

I find it strange that a person that can afford any Apple product couldn't afford an HDTV. It seems like we are the target demographic for the technology.

Besides why would anyone want to watch Heroes (or even 300) in anything less than HD???
