I too have had hit or miss issues with the GPS on my X. 5S, SE, 6S, 6S+, 7, 7+ have all worked fine from the same areas, but man my X can really go wonky sometimes when first bringing up Waze. Some times it will finally grab, but other times, it will never work.

Could this be a iOS problem? I have a 7+ and had to reset Location and Privacy couple of times to get the GPS working normal again

Hi

I have an iPhone 6 for work and my iPhone X and cannot use the X for navigation any more.

The X is often confused as to what road I am on and constantly reroutes. I compared my route home on a highway and the 6 correctly showed my route home whereas the X said I was on a sidestreet 2 blocks west and kept on rerouting me via local streets.

I have tried the figure 8 method to recalibrate the X compass.

What else could be going on?

I noticed the GPS was kinda getting things wrong when I first got it on release day. Now I think it's getting worse. I have screen grabs of both phones during my last trip and the X is comically off target by about 2 blocks.
I have noticed the same exact issue. GPS is constantly lagging behind or inaccurate. Whether I use Google Maps, or Apple maps, doesn’t matter. Same result.

GPS on my iPhone SE has recently been failing to lock on or very inaccurate. Going by the outlined status arrow the SE has been using Wifi or Cellular triangulation for location services and ignoring the GPS chip

Seems to be fixed with iOS 11.2.6 though without changing any settings. Have been out geocaching in the middle of nowhere today with it and appears to be fine.

My iPhone 6 Plus on iOS 10.3.3 has no issues.

Apple genius told me to reset network settings. This didn't work. Why would resetting network settings help?

I am already on 11.2.6. I am using my ancient iphone 6 for reliable, rock solid gps navigation. WTF!!!

Answer: Resetting the network settings does not help, thus the question doesn't make much sense.
Update the phone to iOS 11.2.6 and give it another try.

Yeah, that's the one thing I've noticed with my X-- GPS is horrible. I upgraded from a 5, and was hoping the positioning performance would improve, but it can get pretty horrible. It sounds like some people have had luck getting the phone replaced through Apple?

I noticed it the first day or so. I thought it was just a glitch. Now it's actually dangerous to use it as I can be heading one way, it gets confused, and it starts rerouting because it is inaccurate.

Is it a known issue? i don't want to have to argue with Apple genius. I have some screen shots from both phones from recent incident where the X was waaaay off. I will look for those.

Based on my experience, GPS is still a hit or miss.
Since the iPhone X debacle I've been carrying two phones; a 6s+ and the X as a means to continually compare and troubleshoot, (sad that it has come to that). o_O

Something I have noticed on both phones is that upon loading a new iOS the GPS functions work perfectly, but then as the weeks roll by the GPS gets more and more unpredictable until it becomes unusable.

Yeah, sounds nuts, but since I upgraded to 11.3 the GPS function is crisp, accurate, and immediate on both my phones, (just like it was when I first loaded 11.2.x).
Over the next several weeks the GPS function will deteriorate until is it unusable. Doing a complete phone reset does nothing to improve it either!

Side Note:
Everything I've read about 11.3 does NOT mention a GPS issue fix... since according to Apple there is no GPS issue!

I haven't noticed any nav problems with the X for the most part. That said, I have noticed a few problems with all previous iPhones occasionally where they direct me around a block or two before continuing to guide me to the destination.

And there have been times where I've been directed off route because of major traffic problems ahead. I primarily use Waze, but I just got a new car that supports Apple Play and it displays the Maps app on the vehicles GPS screen.

I am on my third iPhone X- all three have the same issue. FWIW, I only use mapping to get from point A to B on foot- so this is not an interference issue due to its position in the car in my case.

I have pretty much given up on seeing this resolved after being in touch with apple support/engineering ever since the phone came out.
I have three iPhoneXs and none have issues. I don't live in a high rise area; we have several really tall hotels, but nothing like a big city.
