I had a bad habit of looking at my iPhone in bed and I would do this frequently during the night.
Since getting the iPhone X, unlocking the phone with face ID hardly ever worked whilst lying in bed. I got frustrated with this and since my password is long I just gave up looking at my phone in bed.
This has certainly improved my sleep.

Sounds like you have some sort of sleep disorder. My faceid works as designed including in a pitch black room.. Maybe you should clear your faceid and set it up again. There have been a few threads where people set up faceid at an odd angle or too far away from their face and had issues with it unlocking the phone..

Yes I did have a sleep disorder
The IPhone X FaceID cured my problem:)

My iPhone X has no problem unlocking in bed lying down in a dark room. The phone obviously has to be orientated with your face so the camera is not looking at you sideways.

That’s interesting. Mine has the exact opposite effect one me and it always unlocks flawlessly even though my bedroom is pitch black dark.

I guess it only took $1000 to cure it... personally, I would of just tried Ambien.

Sure, if you want him to buy another X and then some on Amazon, then go out and run over pedestrians with no recollection.

FaceID should work as well in the dark as in the light, unless your face is partially concealed while you're in bed, which might be possible if you're laying on your side or something.

Write an email to Tim Cook. Perhaps you can be featured in a commercial related to help in the future. ;) haha

(like the apple watch commercial with those real people)

I think that's one area where Face ID could improve, is different angles when someone is laying down and the camera has trouble recognizing the users face because of how the Face is altered when in a relaxed state.

I don’t think Apple would be too happy if I told them TouchID works better in bed than FaceID (for me) since FaceID is the future

While it's great that you are sleeping better, technically speaking this aspect of Face ID isn't an asset in my opinion.

There was no indication of such. So my statement still stands. Sorry if you don't like being called out, but theres a pill for that too.
Called out? Do you actually think the OP was really suffering from insomnia before his iPhone X? This whole thread is sarcasm, sorry your too literal to pick up on that.. I stand by my response...lighten up

Maybe OP goes to bed with a facial mask?
