How much did apple pay you , to write this post?

Is this a serious question!

If apple had paid me I wouldn't be saying how bad FaceID is for me when I'm in bed

A bit of self control could have solved this problem otherwise.

That is so true but when it comes to gadgets I have no self control :)

Maybe OP goes to bed with a facial mask?

No I don't wear a mask

I love the iPhone X but it has its issues

Actually, I don't really think that's the point about behind the thread. I think the point the OP is making is Face ID has its concerns with unlocking the device successfully while lying down, which is problematic at times. Others have expressed their concerns with this and it's reason enough for an area of improvement for the sensors/camera to adapt in more conditions when the face is relaxed or shifted differently while lying down.

My faceid works as designed including in a pitch black room.. Maybe you should clear your faceid and set it up again. There have been a few threads where people set up faceid at an odd angle or too far away from their face and had issues with it unlocking the phone..

Does yours really work when you're lying horizontal and holding the phone above your face?

I had a bad habit of looking at my iPhone in bed and I would do this frequently during the night.
Since getting the iPhone X, unlocking the phone with face ID hardly ever worked whilst lying in bed. I got frustrated with this and since my password is long I just gave up looking at my phone in bed.
This has certainly improved my sleep.

Live works in mysterious ways...
