I agree. The specs of the two phones are there for everyone to see. What the OP could possibly expect to gain by hearing what other people would do for THEIR own reasons, is beyond me.

Another one, i have already said what i have to gain, is it so hard to understand, forums are full of people asking for opinions, thats one of the things forums are used for. You can gain much by asking people who already own a device what they think about a particular device, and if 100 persons like one model and 5 likes the other one....well then i have gotten pretty useful information.

I have the XR, after originally buying XS Max. I just couldn’t handle the OLED (ymmv). However, I’m glad I have the XR. It’s a great phone. I love the size (I DID have plus size phones before, so that’s something to consider). The battery life is fantastic. The camera is awesome. The connectivity is great (my daughter has the XS, and has a lot of problems with connectivity where mine has none).

The XR MIGHT be my favorite iPhone I’ve ever had.

What did you think about the XS max, do you think it´s too big? I have the 6 plus right now and it´s a 5.5" screen and i don´t think it´s so small, so i guess a 5.8" or 6.1" would be enough, but who knows i will have to try it and see. But my first thought is that the XS max sounds as a big phone?

Yeah i would buy one slightly used, but the problem is that when buying used ones the phones are always and i mean always on the latest firmware, since 99.99 % of the people updates the firmware as soon as they get the update message, but i need a phone which is maximum iOS 12.1.2 (Jailbreakable, soon hopefully).

I could buy one from the store which is on a deal, but it´s hard to find deals on Apple products here in Europe, i don´t know why? Apple products always seems to have the same prices until a new model is released, and even then in the case of iPhone x it hasn´t gotten much cheaper?

But yeah i guess i have to grab the one which i find the best price on, since they both have plus sides and minus sides.

I actually found the Max to be more comfortable to hold than the Plus, obviously they’re both very similar phones. But being that you have use the Plus phones before, you really shouldn’t have any much of a transition to using the Max, as they’re both very similar in terms of size/weight.

I LOVED the Max. I was coming from an 8+, so I didn’t really have any issues with the size. I would’ve kept it if it weren’t for the OLED; it gave me pretty bad headaches. I might have overcome that, but wasn’t willing to hang on to it and see. I’m glad I didn’t because my daughter has had her XS since launch, still has headaches, and we have had trouble selling it to move her to XR.

I bought a used X on eBay to replace my 6 Plus, and I didn't care too much for it. The Face-ID and other new features were quite glitchy, and the screen wasn't what I expected. I sent it back to the seller and went to apple store and got a white XR 128gb, unlocked. The benchmarks were much better, and the phone felt just as premium as the old X did. Screen was bigger and smaller resolution wasn't that big of a deal for me. Plus, the price (after trade-in) was the same as I paid for the X.

Thanks for your inputs.
I decided to go with the iPhone XS Gold 64GB, what I regret a bit is that I only bought the 64GB version, you can never have too much disc space on a phone , especially not on an iPhone which doesn't have expandable memory.
And also because my apps are often big size apps, often around 1-2 GB each. And I like to have a lot of songs on the phone.
I could have gotten the 256GB for an additional 150 USD, well well. It was a budget question.

Also i´m a little bit split about if I should have went with the XS Max instead of the regular XS, I´m coming from a 6 Plus and a 6S so what I do know is that the 6S has a way too little screen, I had trouble writing text messages since I hit the wrong letters all the time on the 6S.
It´s the same thing with the screen, It´s always good with a big screen, but it increases the phone size as well.
The 6 Plus had a much better screen size, but some of the times i dropped the 6 plus I'm sure was due to the fact that the phone was too big in my hand and it was hard handling the 6 plus with only one hand. It worked best when using the 6+ with two hands, but sometimes you need to be able to use a phone with one hand.

So what I wished for was a phone which had a smaller overall size but still a big screen size, I think thats accomplished with the XS, as far as I have understood it has a 0.3" bigger screen than the 6 Plus? But I noticed that the 6+ screen is actually wider than the XS screen.
When i´m reading around the internet it seems most XS owners have went with the XS Max though?

What was the point in starting a thread if you were gonna ignore everyone’s advice (and your own poll) about getting an XR?

What you are describing about what you want with size in your last paragraph is an XR. The XR has around the same screen size as a plus but a smaller foot print.

Also you a 128gb XR for a lot cheaper and double your memory size if that’s a concern.

Anyway I hope you are happy with your final decision.

The point was that I got a good offer on a new XS which was the same price as XR or a X. If you have read the whole thread you can see that I didn't want to buy the XS because of the high price, but like I said, now I got it for the same price as an XR.
Because you ask for input does not mean thats what you going to do in the end.

I can't understund you people who takes the time to respond with such unnecessary comments. Did you really felt the need to ask why I made the thread if I´m not listening to peoples advice?? You don't need to write everything that you think.

It was a genuine question as to why you did what you did.

Enjoy your new XS, I hope it’s everything you wished for.

If you compare the display sizes you need to compare the width and not the diagonal the is normally mentioned. The iPhone 6 from 2014 has the same width as the the iPhone 6S, X or XS. It’s a relatively small phone in today’s standards. So if the 6S "has a way too little screen" then the XS is the wrong phone for you. The XS Max has the same width as the 6 Plus. The displays of the X phones only are a bit „higher“ because of the smaller bezels at top and bottom.

The best compromise for me is the XR that is in between the width of the XS and XS Max but has the same resolution in points than the XS Max (that means you see the same content than the Max). And the XR has a very cheap option for 128GB. I won’t buy a 64GB phone in 2019....

I have an Xs Max at the monent, and had X before.
I absolutely hate low resolution display and use of old ass LCD in Xr and just one single camera (remember even the 3 years old iPhone 7 Plus had 2 camera lenses) so Xr is definitely X regular.no way around it.
And personally I hate the colorful design.it just feels so cheap and inferior compared to X.
So I’ll take X anytime,anyday over Xr.

Curious though, have you tried both the display and camera on the XR? As I said earlier, I was of your opinion a few months ago, but then after trying the XR, I completely fell for it right away. I think the screen and camera are great. The only thing I miss is 3D Touch bit it’s nowhere near a deal breaker.

The resolutions of the X and XR are comparable due to the different pixel layouts of OLED v LCD.

The Pixel 3 has one camera lens and it takes better photos than all the iPhones so having one lender should not and does not hinder quality.

How can you hate colours?! Just get a black or white one in that case.

Well yes 64GB is a bit small, but you also have the ability to have stuff in the cloud storage, but sure if you have an unlimited budget then why not, in that case one would buy the 512GB XS.
Since Apple is manufacturing the XS and XS Max in 64GB there seems to be a demand for that storage size?
If we could get by with 16GB or even 8GB a couple of years ago why not 64GB now?

And about the size, the size difference is pretty big between the 6S and XS even if you don't count the notch part.
And the size difference in width is exactly the thing that makes the 6+ or the XS Max clumsy in my opinion and which increases the risk of dropping the phone unless you hold it with 2 hands, thats my experience from owning the 6+
But sure if the actual XS Max phone was smaller I would gladly have the bigger screen size.

When I want a big screen I use my Mac computer, I´m not one of those people who uses my iPhone at home to do things that are doable on the computer. I don't watch movies on my phone for example.

And i didn´t like the design of the XR. The 6.1" screen is a plus on the XR though, but don't know how much bigger the actual phone size is compared to the XS.

So all in all, I would probably have bought an iPhone X instead of the XR if I hadn't gotten a good deal on the XS which made it cost virtually the same price as the 64GB XR. Since the design is half of the importance for me.

So far I´m happy with the XS, only thing is I'm scared to drop it since I know how much the screen and back replacements cost, maybe I should buy the Apple care, but thats another topic.
