If Apple does this and releases a bezel-less phone that is the same size as the SE I will definitely be trading in my 7+. I'm tired of big phones, but currently, there is nothing out there to motivate me to spend the money and trade it in.

At this point, I may do the same. I wanted this larger phone but I'm so tired of how bulky it is in my clothes. It doesn't fit anywhere. Having the wireless headphones helps. If I had wired headphones sticking out of my phone in addition to the large phone size I'd be going mad. Perhaps these things go in cycles, but I want a smaller phone this time around.

It just needs to have a really good screen. I have no idea how I used the SE for as long as I did. My wife still has the SE, and the screen is really poor. It actually hurts my eyes now =/

Of all the iPhone SE improvements that have potential and others seem to believe, you’re the only one that actually mentions about improving the resolution, which I totally agree with you. The resolution on the iPhone SE is horrible, and if they upgrade that to the standard of the iPhone 7 at least, that would be a significant improvement.

I agree, if the SE2 carries on with the budget phone theme it at least needs A10, camera upgrade, better quality 4” LCD screen, and Gen 2 TouchID. Anything less would be a fail in my opinion.

The smaller X-style premium phone that I and others want is not really a successor to the SE in spirit as some here relentlessly like to point out. It would have to be a different device to target different users, and I’m totally ok with that. I don’t care what they call it, I just want a more premium option that is smaller than the current X.

The notch on that leaked screen protector, if accurate, looks very small in comparison to the X. If the phone is a smaller version of the X, I'd consider it. I'm always happy to get back to as compact of a phone as possible.

Just a few points that I need to make. First of all, the iPhone "XSE" won't be called that, but the iPhone SE 2 or SE2018. Maybe the iPhone Mini. Second of all, I think the only change to the SE 2 will be a glass back and higher internals. I wouldn't think an X design would go on a budget iPhone which will cost $700 if it were to happen.

sorry can't cancel it. But I think the notched iPhone SE 2 will cost around the same, maybe a little less than the 6.1 inch iPhone but I think a $700 SE 2 with a notch makes sense.

The SE and the 7 have exactly the same resolution, 326 ppi. The 7 just has additional pixels to fill its larger screen. But both screens are equally sharp.

What the 7 does have over the SE is a higher quality screen. It has deeper blacks, which gives it a better contrast ratio, and can display the wider P3 color gamut, compared to sRGB for the SE. If a new SE was released with the higher quality screen of the 7 but no bump in resolution, it would be more than enough for me.

I would like to add more information. I think the better quality is down to the smaller screen size of the original SE

To the eye, they are not. I can tell you I own both of those phones and the SE is dramatically different in terms of being less vibrant in color and more blurry like. Its the one area of the SE that needs improvement. Especially with a 4 inch display, it makes a significant impact when you’re looking at such a small screen.

Given the size of the notch (if the leaks are to be believed) I don’t think there is enough space for Face ID. Could it have under screen Touch ID?
