Please go back and read what you posted, you are asking me to justify for you why the notch is awful for people who want a big screen for watching movies. It doesn't apply to me, because I don't watch movies on my iPhone. I don't have an issue with it, you do. Again, then utilize your options for other iPhones that won't obstruct your viewing experience for watching movies. It's fairly simple, you don't have to support the iPhone X if you don't like it. No one here is pointing the finger at you, you're just bitterly upset over design feature that doesn't correlate with your own viewpoints. It's how it is. And I don't think it's possible for Apple to design every single feature around iPhone user, because the user won't agree with everything Apple does to begin with.

ok..
but i love everything else on th X,
so for me and MANY OTHER PEOPLE it's a huge design flaw.
maybe for you it's not a concern. good for you.

This has nothing to do with picking sides of who likes the notch and who doesn't. It's usage based. Everyone's experiences will vary depending on how somebody uses the iPhone. That's what it comes down to. Not everybody and every iPhone user will appreciate the same features. But let's not categorize a viewpoint based on a design function that Apple implemented because you don't agree with it. That's like me saying 'everybody should like the exact same color iPhone and why another color iPhone was a horrible choice by Apple'. Point is, not everybody would agree with that statement, because everybody differs based on what they prefer and opinions vary.

fine. if you cannot admit that the notch present an objective viewing problem, then it's pointless.

The notch is highly practical. Where would you put the camera, IR camera, IR illumination, face dot generator, proximity sensor, speaker, if you didn't have a notch. Maybe an ear, above the phone?

I would have kept the notch but made the toolbar on the sides constantly black in order to blend in. that way you can make it dynamic and show different information up there or even make it interactive so as to not waste the space, but it would still blend in nicely.

Yeah I don't understand how anyone can think this is ok:

I can get used to the notch for other apps and safari, etc.. but media not so much.

lol .. there are many examples where the notch is not okay. I personally think it's ugly and not Apple-esque. Call an Apple an Apple, the notch is ugly! The problems we're seeing in landscape mode will be addressed and Apple will make it much better than the launch day iteration. However, anyone who thinks the notch is a great invention and is here to stay across many iPhone iterations is definitely out to lunch.

the more serious problem is that the smaller zoomed out option is so small it's even worse!

exactly, I dont want to buy a full edge to edge screen phone to watch videos in letter box lol.

seriously now, i really wanna know at least how various youtube videos look etc.
i'll probably won't watch feature films but mainly series with 16:9 ratio so it might
not be as small as this.
Wonder Woman has more aggressive aspect ratio (TBH many most movies today) so it will look letterboxed and smaller.
it's not that i don't like the new phone, it's just that THIS is a real problem that i just cannot
understand how they let it be. and to have the video with the notch displayed at the keynote with pride.

Reread your comment, and then look at your avatar. If that does not work, do it again. It will come to you.

It is a design flaw if the notch cuts off your videos.

It won't. Only if you force it to.

Ok, for the millionth time: this is not what video will look like UNLESS you yourself double-tap to ignore the original aspect ratio of the footage and go "full screen". Which you really shouldn't do!

I dont love it but I dont mind it currently, yet to see if in person but atm I have no issue with it.

You forgot the bit where they all happily ride home after their Starbucks on their one-speeds.

Someday that young man will look back on his photos and cringe. Like I do when I see photos of myself with 80's poodle hair, in shirts with huge linebacker worthy shoulder pads on my tiny 5'2 82 pound body and all my leather jewelry with metal spikes.

Someday we all will look back on the Notch and feel the same way. It stands out and proudly calls attention to itself. It is unique and defines the beginning of a new era in IPhones. But it's definitely going to feel very dated as soon as Apple can engineer a truly magical solution. We will look back and snicker. Someday. For now, fluff up your man buns and embrace the notch. ;)

Btw this is what that same "Wonder Woman" movie will look like if you DO NOT double tap.

You are Going to find that there are two sides to this, those who appreciate it and those who don't. It's just a matter that it's completely different Apple has designed something after all these years and many don't agree with the change. It won't affect me, but it will change some minds about purchasing this iPhone.

What in the hell is there to appreciate with this notch? NOTHING at all.

There is nothing at all positive about it at all.

Opinions differ. At least I know that you won't be pre-ordering an iPhone X, which is good for the rest of us.

Everyone's seems to be hating this notch. I like this new design! :D
It's unique, now iPhone stands out and is not like Samsung etc. I don't see the notch will ruining my life on forthcoming X. I'm gonna love this beautiful new phone :apple:

Think different needs to mean better, not just different. The only way I can fall in love with the notch is if the edge to movie screen measurements at the top and bottom of the phone in portrait mode add up the be LESS than the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus.
