Say what??? How come Apple was able to mitigate something that is inherent to OLED? It is a matter of physics, there are no miracles here! The manufacturer of the OLED panels (Samsung) can't miitigate it, as it is hardware related and inherent to the organic leds used, and according to this post, Apple manages to solve it. How? And the blue shift, another OLED characteristic that everyone reported to be present on the X??
This is the kind of customers Apple just loves.
Apple buys panels from Samguns (not even the last gen, those are reserved for Samsung flagships, and out of the blue these are the best panels, and burn-in and color shifting disappeared just because the panels are installed on an iPhone.
Ridiculous!
Apple does indeed manufacture great pieces of hardware, but let's be a little rational over things.
I am not sold to the X due to several reasons (arguable, as they might be a deal breaker for me, but not for other people), although no one can state the X is not a good phone.
Making unsubstantiated statements is just not a good idea...
Mitigate doesn't mean remove entirely. It means to reduce, or limit the effect of.
Here’s a screenshot from a video showing from left to right, the Pixel 2XL, iPhone X, and Note 8. I think you’ll agree that, at most, the iPhone X is just slightly cooler than normal, but the other two are downright blue.
It's pretty clear the blue-shift has, indeed, been mitigated somewhat.
As for burnin, we all know the Pixel 2XL has been excoriated for the horrible burn-in that started to show up within
days of people getting the phone. No such widespread problems have plagued the iPhone X, so clearly there are ways to mitigate (or, indeed, exacerbate) burnin issues. And that's just one example. There are more.
Apple themselves have mentioned multiple times Samsung was given custom specifics for the design and manufacture of the screen, and we can see objective examples of that when it comes to blue-shift and burn in. The claim that Apple gets hand-me-down screens from Samsung is so false as to be laughable. It's a completely unsubstantiated claim that flies in the face of any and all evidence. Additionally, Apple is one of Samsung's biggest customers. It would only hurt their rep for them to be sending crappy screens to Apple, when reviewers/tech-blogs/etc will clearly point out it's a Samsung screen. There is also no way Apple would stand for getting anything less than top tier hardware for their flagship phone.
It's clear Android fans will want to poo-poo the X, but really it just looks like poor sports at this point.
