I was watching the announcement and was really impressed with the iPhone Xr. However the lack of 3D Touch is really disappointing. I use 3D Touch all the time on my iPhone 7 and don't know if I wanna get a phone without it.

Is 3D Touch not a widely used feature?

They cut it out so you have a reason to upgrade next year, plus it means more profit for Apple. It’s got a rubbish 720P screen! That WILL look worst then the 8 Plus screen. When you look at the XR it has an awful lot of cost cutting measures and is still priced high.

Every single iPhone Apple now sells below and above the XR come with 3D Touch..... the XR is the ONLY model without it.

I have to say I only really use it to move the cursor and as iOS 12 takes care of that anyway I have no reason not to consider the XR :)

Features I do not need and never use:
1. 3d touch (not even once)
2. Face id (hate it)

I can only hope that this is the beginning of the end of 3D Touch. I hate that "feature" because it just confuses the UI. People don't know what to do with it.

The weird thing is that app icon shortcuts will apparently not be simulated on the Xr. On my iPad there is one app that simulates this, and it’s the Files app. I would have hoped they would do it this way but I have seen two hands on videos where they tried this with no success.
