I'm over it to be honest. I'm just going to get the 256 and be done with it, even though 128 would be more than enough. It'll incentivize me to take more photos/4k video and consume more content, something i've been trying to do more of lately.

As many others have said, no one is forcing you to buy. If money and storage is an issue, and you want to stay with iOS, there are plenty of other devices that will offer the storage you're looking for at a reasonable price. Heck you could get a slightly used X 256GB for $700 USD right now and the price will continue to drop.

If the base was 128 I personally know many people who would complain that they want something smaller and resent being forced to buy more than they need.

So, sure, it's fun to rant, but if you were Apple CEO I can promise you that you'd get angry emails about your plan too.

If they make the 128GB the base, they need to raise the price. A company Apple's size does a TON of research on exactly how many people in their target market that move would price out of the low-end option. They know pricing strategy better than nearly anyone.

It's overblown because the complaints on pricing are coming in every year, yet everyone still chooses to suck it up and buy whatever they think they need. But whatever, my common sense never makes an impact on these event days. People are just too excited buying an 1100$ replacement to their year-old 1000$ phone.

It just goes to show how trans-formative the iPhone really was/is. People just plain want it, to the detriment of their wallets, and even in the face of capable alternatives that provide a similar experience for half the cost.

When you realize how much you use your phone, it's not that ridiculous to allocate that kind of money to purchasing a device. Heck i just spent 3K on a TV in my room that in the last 2 months i've used a total of 3 hours. Plenty worse ways to spend your money.

I don't need more than 64 GB. I stream my music. I upload my pics and vids to Dropbox. I really don't store much on my iPhone. Perhaps others are different.

Apple is a business. Don't buy the product if it doesn't suit you. I never understood posts like this, you have zero control over the situation aside from not buying it. Stomping your feet online won't help.

Do people actually think Apple doesn’t have general user statistics? They know how many people buy the 64gb and they know what % of memory is being used by users. This just shows that the majority of 64gb users do not use the full capacity of memory. I am one of them!

Some people are confusing business with goodwill.

Apple is a for-profit organization.

64/256/512 is a classic marketing strategy of making consumers feel uncomfortable with the entry level option but overspending on the middle tier.

64/256/512GB encourages the consumers to buy 256GB and spend $150 more. Why would Apple let the consumer spend $100/128GB when they can force $150/256GB?

Apple has PILES of data on how people use their phones. If they're offering a 64GB option, it's because they know that a significant percentage of users won't need more than 64GB.

The truth is that a very large percentage of users just use the built in apps, Facebook, Instagram, maybe Twitter, a game or two, and that's really it. They take photos but not an insane amount (and with Apple's new photo format they'll take up even less space). The 5GB of iCloud storage helps remove some of those photos from the phone.

Apple wants to make their customers happy (and they do so overwhelmingly according to numerous 3rd party studies). They don't want them showing up to the Apple Store complaining that they're out of storage on their phones. Having talked to numerous folks at the Apple Store, people don't frequently visit for that reason. This could again indicate that people are generally happy with the storage offered on their iPhones, even with the 64GB model being the most popular.

There's no reason to raise the price on their most popular model for everyone, just because a couple of you don't like it and want 128GB to be the base. That'd be a very stupid move by Apple.

I don't think you're getting it. The price is already raised.

This is not a $700 device when I am hoping for incredible value for money with a 128gb. This is in the $1000 zone, which is the absolutely top end of the phone market - products in this segment from competitors do not come with 64gb, they come with 128gb or 256gb or more.

We are already paying the premium, that is why people like myself are not happy.

At that price point, competitors are offering 6GB RAM to, are we going to complain about that as well? Again, your point is well received. However since we cannot do anything about it, you have to decide if it's something that pisses you off enough not to buy. From the sounds of it, you'll buy 256 anyways, and therefore you're essentially vindicating Apple's decision to offer such a storage structure.

We are already paying for the 128gb storage in the price, it is at the absolute top end of the market. In every other industry top end means top end specs, it wouldn't float any other way. I drive a BMW 6 series, that is pretty much at the very top end of BMW's range - they have to offer top end in all it's specs.

Horrible consumer appreciation from Apple, it is the consumers which made them.

Funny the Xr is has 64, 128 and 256 which is perfectly natural for that price point. 128gb is around, Apple has plenty of them at very good prices - it is just plain consumer disregard.

Please understand business.

Premium brands compete upwards, not downwards. BMW competes with Porsche, not Toyota. You're asking Apple to compete downwards. Tim Cook doesn't compare himself with the CEO of RCA.

Apple is at the very top end. They dictate the pricing and others follow.

They go with a competitor! Quit complaining. If there's someone offering a better value for the price, go with them. You act as if you have no choice. They aren't saying you have no choice but to buy this product at this price with this capacity and there is zero other option. The market is FULL of other options, as you yourself said.

If I don't think the value of particular Porsche is worth it, I don't buy it. I buy a BMW instead. I don't complain about it or get upset.

Bottom line is you can't make everyone happy. Raise the minimum to 128gb and the price by $50 or whatever and the people who liked the cheaper price and lower storage will be unhappy. Leave it as is and those who want a midpoint GB between 64 and 256 will be unhappy.

No ram is fine, Apple's ram management system is fine to the point most wouldn't have difficulty at 2gb, and 4gb is probably equivalent to 6-8gb of androids ram management.

Storage on the other hand is not, apps, photos, videos take up a similar amount.

And what is worse they are offering a natural incremental capacities on iPhone Xr at 64, 128 and 256. But on the Xs the jump is from 64 to 128gb. 64gb at this price point is non existent it should not happen.

As others have said, iPhone Xs Max 64gb is certainly not Max.

People will never be happy around here...lol. Hell, they can't please everyone.

Check AAPL stock prices. Their prime responsibility is to shareholders. The lower level iPhones are quite capable and affordable.

I am ok with the Xs Max base model; however if the price is exploitative, :apple: can stuff the whole Keynote.....you know where!!:D

I’m usually the first to complain about the base storage problems (I wouldn’t shut up about 16GB being pathetic for a $650 phone in 2015), but you can’t really get more hyperbolic than “disastrous consumer exploitation”.

64GB, IMO, is passable. Would I like more in a base model? Of course, who wouldn’t? But i don’t think it’s a crime against Apple fans that they didn’t increase the base storage.

If that’s a deal breaker, it’s understandable. But under no circumstances is it “disastrous” or an “exploitation”, unless they have a gun to your head and force you to buy it.

.....
Very dickish move on Apple's part, yes I will buy the 256gb which I don't need.
.......
This is Apple cheating the consumers. And we know what happens to cheaters.
Nothing happens to "cheaters" as evidenced by your post. You will still buy from them.
They are in the business of making money and will try to extract the maximum out of you.

From your post, it looks like they are well on their way to your wallet.
