I love mine. It’s restoring right now. Using Nomad Rugged Case and it feels much better than Apple Leather Case. Nice and solid heft to the device

Some went as far as saying it was lighter than the X. Not by a long shot!

It’s not lighter but it ‘feels’ lighter. Dunno if it’s the size or whatever but it definitely feels lighter than my X. Quite surprising when you lift it out of the box.

Coming from a X it's a fair amount heavier just hefting them both. It seems heavier than the old plus series, but it's been a while since I hefted one of those. I've always liked that heavy feeling, just gives me that quality feel in the hand, even though I know that's just subjective and doesn't really mean anything.

So of course I have been watching all the videos on YouTube and reviews online and the general consensus was that the Xs Max was light. However, now that I picked mine up I actually feel like it’s heavier then I was expecting.

Anybody that got theirs feels like this?

Yeah it’s noticeably heavier than the X. I definitely feel more fatigue holding it browsing the interwebs etc.

LOL

I have it all set up and in hand. It doesn’t seem any heavier than my Plus.
Guys now in fairness it's on the apple website the weight of the max, 208g, I haven't got a max but last year i upgraded from a 7plus to the 8plus and i noticed the weight difference straight away, anyone coming from a 8plus /7plus and definitely an X will notice it, something being heavier is OK for a few mins but after quarter of an hour it becomes annoying not to mention when you start going out and about, it's just not practical.

I’m an old lady and the weight is fine for me. I’ve been using it non stop just about for the last 4 hours with no problems. Now I am coming from a 6S Plus so I’m used to the bigger size.

That is your opinion which you are entitled to, and as well there are alot of people saying the same but i think that is because if you hand out that kinda of money you can be biased, you'll probably get a nice case to protect your really nice max and that will add more weight, then try a 10-15 min walk with it in your pocket, all I'm saying coming from My 8plus experience is that a phone with that footprint and weight is not suitable for people that are on foot and go out alot, hope you enjoy your max,

Move
Off the 5 lb dumbbells

It’s not even noticeable. My fav phone out the gate since the Motorola razr v3
[doublepost=1537572288][/doublepost]PS. Going caseless. Duck it.

It's not lighter than older pluses ;)
Yeah but real world comparisons. I held my old 8 plus in one hand. And the Max in the other. And I can tell the difference between the two. And it feels a little heavier for me holding the 8 plus. But the difference is not going to that much different to be honest.

Went from 3 years of Plus phones to the X last year which was a nice break but I missed the big screen and ease of typing. Giving myself a week to get used to the Max but it does feel surprisingly light to me, like the distribution of weight is better than with the plus

I walked 3 miles this afternoon with the new phone in my pocket- still no issue. Of course the larger phones aren’t for everyone, but for me, it works.

It’s not a small device but I walked a good hour in NYC in skinny jeans today and it didn’t feel significantly different than my X. Even when sitting for a bit, which I remember my Plus phones poking into me a bit.

It's a tad bit heavier, but for some reason not noticeable even in the slightest to me, but I find the weight more balanced for some reason.

Okay so I've had last night and all this morning to get a feel for it and am agreeing with a lot of the opinions above. It's definitely heavier feeling that the 7 Plus that I'm coming from, which we know is the case anyway from the specs. It's noticeable on pickup and after holding for a while. (I still have the 7 Plus here for the weekend until I post it off to a buyer.)

The XS Max is way nicer to hold though as it's slimmer and am expecting to get used to the weight soon. Putting Apple's leather case on the Max does seem to push it over a threshold where I consider it weighty in a way that some older devices were.

As for the guys suggesting that it's lighter than the X. My other half has an X and that nonsense gave us the giggles. You'd have to be a pretty ridiculous person to say something like that. 174g v 208g. That's 34g difference.

In terms of devices of this weight class.. that's a huge difference!

Anyway, weight isn't the biggest gripe with the Max. It's the apps. Most of my apps look rubbish at the moment. Resolution isn't quite retro, but you do immediately notice it when you open almost any non Apple app. Everything looks like a step backwards compared to my 7 Plus and the X. We had a nice side by side comparison of apps last night on the 7+, X and Max, and the Max lost every round.

Photos and videos look great though, no issue there, it's nothing to do with the screen. It's just the scaling. When apps get updated soon the Max is going to be legitimately gorgeous!

Oh, my other gripe - books. Last night in bed was the first time I noticed the notch when reading. Hit me like a brick. Bit of a sad panda, but again, I'll get used to it. Don't think the notch will bother me or even get noticed any other time though.

11 or 12 will be close to the ultimate phone. No notch and lighter, but same screen size. Larger camera sensor. Voila. Can move phone resources towards the Apple Watch and speed up its improvement then. 13 and 14 will have really impressive stabilisation tech. Check out the Go Pro 7. Very impressive. That tech is getting smaller, will be small enough for phones soon.

It's light to me. You just need to hit the gym.

Post a vid of your max deadlift/bench/squat and your bodyweight so we can see what strength class you fall into. Just so we can see that you're legit of course, you won't mind since you brought it up of course?

(Yes this is where you worm out of it and say or do absolutely anything except prove you're legit).

Feels solid and the iPhone XS Max is well balanced in hand. It takes a little getting used to

It is a smidge heavier than the 8+, but also a to touch narrower. All in, it is an easier phone to handle than the 8+.

The XS Max weighs six grams heavier over the 8 Plus.

8 Plus= 202G
XS Max= 208 G

Sorry, but I have to disagree. I walk a lot. (I mean a lot, walking is my hobby - I walk hills, mountains, ultra marathons. All with my trusty plus-size phones.)

I suppose my point is that we all have different wants, and apportion value to different attributes differently... So everyone should get the phone that works for them - and for some of us that is the plus/max sizes, and others it's the traditional sizes... But I don't think you can say that a "phone with that footprint and weight is not suitable for people that are on foot and go out a lot", as you did... ;)

All of these iPhones are too big, fat, heavy. There hasn't been a phone comfortable enough to forget about in my pocket since the Blackberry Curve.

I'm not sure who the target audience is for these things. I guess the people on this board.

Apple's motto should be "our customers deserve heavier phones, lighter bank accounts."

Are you guys happy with its center of gravity while doing single-handed thumb contortionism to swipe up from the bottom and swipe down from the top right? (is such a single handed use even possible at all on the Max?)
