Just a quick update: by having it delivered to my house I saved $55 dollars in taxes.
My friend in Delaware is lucky when it comes to these expensive items. 0% tax. For something this expensive I will make the 30 mile trip to the one Apple Store there..or Best Buy, whatever. The Apple Store has absolutely zero stock come next Fri. for any model.

So...about $86 bucks goes to PA Tax. Just brutal. Could be slightly worse, if I lived in the Philly city limits, that would be about $115 tax. And yes I realize NYC, LA is even worse!

Picking up at the store.

This way I get it at 8:30am instead of sitting around all day waiting and waiting and waiting and not willing to leave the house, heh.

Store pickup, I delayed for hours if I wanted to update and missed the Sept 21 home delivery LOL

Yeah Fashion Valley is great! Too bad we don't have that much Apple Stores in SD except for La Jolla, Otay Ranch, and Fashion Valley.
I would do the hub, but I think the on in SD is 30 minutes from where I live, and I don't want to drive that far lol.

30 minute drives are routine for me. It’s just so nice to have the whole day with your new device. :)

How does the store pick up works ? Will there be lines to stand for store pickup or you just walk in ?
I am doing store pickup first time this year so I am new to this. I have 5 to 5:30 pm time window so do I need to go early to stand in line for store pick up ??
Thanks

Ship to home/office. As an expat working in a hotel overseas, I live where I work so it would be a purposeful trip out just to pick up my phone, then come back to the same place. Not really worth the hassle, plus my hours aren't fixed so who knows if I'd even be able to get out there. Nah, shipping it here and having to sign for delivery is the much better option.

In my experience in Hong Kong, there will be two separate lines; one for people who are just testing their luck to see if they can pick one up just by walking in, and one for people who have reservations. The reservation line was much shorter and I maybe waited between 5-10 minutes before I got to the front.

You'll be fine arriving anywhere within that time frame, though I would try not to cut it too close to 5:30 just to avoid potentially getting cut off for being "late."

My local Apple Store is about 3 miles from my office. I'm working a 1/2 day Friday and my pickup window is 12-12:30. Picking it up, grabbing lunch and going home to play with my new toy :)

8am pickup at my local Apple Store for two of the ones I got. The rest of them are being shipped. My personal device I'm picking up at 8am. Can't trust shipping. FedEx is garbage and has messed up the last three launches for me. Twice, they simply left my shipment sitting in the distribution hub and I had to wait until Monday. FedEx is easily the second worst shipping entity behind Amazon Logistics who excels at their monumental stupidity and failures.

I have it sent to home but as soon as I get my tracking, I get it held at the UPS CC. On Friday I’ll pick it up early in the morning and don’t have to wait for UPS to come to my house after 6 PM usually.

At the CC there’s never more than 5 people the last few years I’ve done the same thing, walk out of there with my phone in less than 10 minutes. I could go to work after that but took Friday off. :D

Ship to store for me. It is easier than waiting to sign for the package at home or doing the pre-sign thing which doesn't always work. In addition, I get to dump my X back as part of IUP. You gotta make a trip to the store for that anyway.

Both.

I have a Silver iPhone XS being delivered on the 21st.

I also have a Gold iPhone XS Max ordered for in-store pickup on the 21st, since shop dates went into October.

Already have a silver X and love it, but I’m a sucker for always having the newest phone. So after trying out the gold Max, I’ll decide which XS I want to keep.

This is my first year doing store pick up. I picked a super early time as mail delivery doesn’t get to me until 3 pm.

My restore process which includes 60GB of music takes so long those extra hours will be great before the phone is set up.

Ship to store is the much better option, especially since some of us work during the day... Less risk of it getting lost or anything. Just go in, pick it up, leave.

I pick it up at the store... Reason is simple: It has been available for lauchday and shipping home would have been at least one week later... ;)

I am also pretty excited about the in sore pickup as I never did it before... I guess I'll try to arrive at the "greeter at the door a few minutes before my window opens and ask him where to go...

Ship to store as I need to trade in my 8 Plus. iPhone Upgrade Program.

Same here! I chose evening pickup time. Last year for 8 Plus there was not much rush in the store. Hopefully this year it will be the same.

When should we expect the pickup email from Apple? Last year I never received one but store still had my phone, had to search in back of the store. :)

I’m picking up at the store early Friday morning.

Last year I walked in and out in 20 minutes to pickup my iPhone.

I like and going to have my Xs Max sent to Apple store for pick-up. Will receive e-mail Thursday evening for Friday pick-up. Will arrive 15 min before appointment time to go to phone table and see the new models and colors. Then will do the personal set-up in store.

Picking mine up at the Apple Campus mothership Friday at 11:30... lines used to be stupid long but thanks to delivery on opening day, I haven’t seen those in a while.

I’ve never been to the Apple Campus, though, so that might be a nightmare...
