FYI,

http://forum.frenchiphone.com/index.php/topic,3743.msg44610.html#msg44610

states that IPSF > 1.6 survives the update.
It also suggests that if you use an IPSF version prior to 1.6, you should reverginise it (that can be done in 1.0.2 only if I remember right) then update to fw 1.1.1 and apply IPSF 1.7-rc4.

My iPhone was unlocked with IPSF prior to fw 1.1.1 release (hence it's a very old version, pre 1.6 for sure), but I decided to update it to 1.1.2 without verginising and guess what ? It works. (the ipsf unlock survived the update).

Was not aware of SOME of that, however fantastic news.

IPSF unlocked, now what?

I unlocked my iPhone with iPhone SIMFree. Now I took out he AT&T sim card before the unlocked and reboot my phone (off n on) after removing the AT&T sim. After I applied the IPSF tool and successfully unlocked. Now I insert the non AT&T sim but the iphone won't pick up signal besides the Wi-Fi signal. It does however show that i have voice mail and shows my non AT&T number in my contacts; however no network signal. How do I proceed from here??

you have to activate it ya i thought it was broken are you running 1.1.2 or 1.1.1

Running 1.1.1. Bro-in-law suggested to stay in 1.1.1 until IPSF could offer unlocking solution to 1.1.2 which they now offer.

Also, which program do I use to Activate??
if you use a mac use independence for 1.1.1 if a pc then idemocracy. If you want 1.1.2 then use the installer app and install oktoprep in tweaks(1.1.1) ok then update and install the jailbreak thing from conceited software from your computer and use that but use your non-att sim to work because when i used my att sim i could not activate my non att sim

MMM iDemocracy asks me to downgrade which I don't want. Any clues on that?

if your on 1.1.2 then thats the only way srry no other way yet but if your on 1.1.1 then use jailbreak.com

I am already Jailbrocken and unlocked (iPhone SimFree method). My problem is that when I change from my AT&T Sim to a Non AT&T SIM the iPhone will not pick up the network signal. What do I do to make iPhone pick up the signal?

if you use idemocracy for pc or indepence for mac if not then jailbreak again with jailbreakme.com

idemocracy (since I am in windows) wants me to downgrade. I am using idemocracy 1.1.1 so if someone can post the link to iDemocracy 2.01 it would highly be appreciated.
its on the idemocracy web page look on the right it should say democracy update or idemocracy update

lol its ok get winrar its unzips rar files which will then contain the exe file

Unzipped via WinRar, however, now iDemocracy won't run. Windows says:

"iDemocracy.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."

and never opens. Gosh, seems everything is against me not to end the unlocking process.

By the way, I use Windows XP.

i dont know why try running it while its on a usb drive or ipod for some reason it works for me like that lol

Updated to 1.1.2 from 1.1.1 after preparing it with oktoprep, my ipsf unlocked phone survived the update.
ipsf prior to fw 1.1.1, so really old.

When you used Oktoprep, and then installed the 1.1.2 update, did you have to reactivate the iPhone and such?

You had the phone unlocked prior to the 1.1.2 update, correct?

Thanks

My iphone came with 1.1.1 out of the box... I jailbroke/activated using jailbreakme.com and unlocked with iphonesimfree 1.7...

I don't plan on updating to 1.1.2 just yet, but I've got a couple questions:

1) Is it a good idea to install iphonesimfree 1.8, given that I've already unlocked with 1.7? Is it generally a good idea to keep up-to-date with iphonesimfree versions even if you already have successfully unlocked with a previous version?

2) If so, is it necessary/advisable to uninstall iphonesimfree 1.7 from my iphone first, or would that be silly?

When you inserted your non AT&T SIM, did you do anythign else or did it work instantly (picked up signal from (T-Mobile or any other GSM) and pick up the voicemails?)

Because mine won't pickup signal...=(
