I've tried this method with some success. It will decrease the visibility of deep scratches and overall shine your iPod up quite a bit. If it only has light scratches to begin with, the effect will be less noticeable.
Love the 3G, where to find apps?
I just inherited a 20Gb 3G, and I love it. I was wondering if there are any programs available for it beyond the built-in games. I'm especially interested in a secure password file, if such a thing exists.
Unfortunately, the iPhone and other ipod models completely dominated google searches, so I haven't had much luck there.

A 3G 20GB iPod was my first iPod, I loved the thing. I had to fit a firewire card to my PC (at the time) in order to use it. I remember seeing them when I was on a trip to New York in 2003 and knew that I had to have one eventually. It was probably the one which really kicked off the iPod's popularity.
I still have it and sometimes will dig it out to listen to a random song. I agree that it is probably the best looking iPod, those little red lights looked amazing but the click wheel was ultimately a much more intuitive design even if it was clunkier aesthetically. It was amazing to think of all the accessories it came with - the black carry case, dock (which I remember looked like a little bar of soap in its plastic wrapper), remote control. It makes me happy thinking about it

i have the 20GB version, also my first iPod. the fact that it came with all the necessary accessories was great and sadly missed in iPods now. my second HDD finally died on me about 9 months ago so i finally upgraded to the 32GB iPod touch 2g. i was still getting about 5 hours on the original battery.
