Sorry to be blunt, but the iPod is a ****ing music player in the end. We don't need no stinking browser! :p

- 80GB+ HD
- Color screen, higher rez
- screensaver (movie?) playback
- 20hr+ battery life
- BT 2.0 and/or 802.11
- wireless dock
- thinner, a little shorter
- home on ipod (wasn't it coming in like 10.3.6???)

this thing with the color screen is nice and all.. but would apple have ONE iPod that does photo/video capability... or two diff iPods... one that is just COLOR and the other that does photo/media... i mean heck... if they do it that way...then i dunno.. if they combine the two i smell competition against the psp.. but wait.. the psp plays games.. hrm....

I know everyone wants Bluetooth or some sort of wireless to be built-in to the iPod, but think about it, will it ever happen? Not this revision, that's for sure.

Why would you want to use a Bluetooth connection to your computer? It would be slower than normal wired connections through USB or Firewire and it would be too techie for the 95% of iPod users who wouldn't use it even once.

The only major updates will be a new capacity (80 GB), color screens on the whole iPod line (no more photoPods), updates to the OS and possibly a refinement of the design, that's all. But it will be enough for most people.

Yeah

Yeah all those are possible in 5 years. ;) With all those options in a smaller then the iPods is now i think you would get about 2 min battery life (if they could fit) .

I would also like to a rejoining of the iPod line. There are too many variations, too many design types. There is the possibility at some point if this trend continues that consumers could become confused at the differences. One form factor, screen, capabilities. Only difference is the capacity engraving on the back.

I dont think thats such a great idea, Henry Ford did that, and lost the majority of his sales to GM, who was offering many different models of cars.

I would just like to see a color screen iPod Mini, with good battery life. Wireless docking would be cool, but I dont think its feasable yet.

I think it would be cool if they put a touch screen on the iPod. This would mean they could make the screen a lot bigger and if they wanted, they could always place a virtual click wheel on the screen. BUT there's no way that'll happen :p

I hope they do put Bluetooth on it and an integrated speaker (similar to those in phones) would be cool. A larger cache would be nice too.

If you want a touch screen on an iPOD get one of the new PALMs
You will get a nice pda with a 4 gig HD and the ability to beam your songs to someone else.

Bluetooth, Wifi, Palm apps, games, emulation, mp3 and video player etc.
All the things an iPod can't do in a package the same size as an iPOD.

I'd like to see a bigger Cache as well.

One thing I really want is a 40Gb iPod using a single layer drive.

I remember reading a rumour about this ages ago and I really want this.

I'd like to have a 40Gb iPod the size of the 20's as my music collection is already bigger than 20Gb (See sig for my iPod) and I have trouble dealing with what I want on my iPod and what I don't I'd like to be able to have everything on it. I've held the 40Gb iPods and I don't like that they are thicker.
Also, I don't feel that 30Gb is enough room to grow, and I feel that in at least a year I will be in the same position as I am now where I can't fit everything on it.

Other features that have been mentioned don't really interest me, I just want my iPod to play music.

Maybe I should of explained that a 4GB HD is not enough for me as I would fill that up in, oh let's see... about 3 minutes? ;) And I was just dreaming anyway :D

...and a built in speaker. Thats right, a built in speaker. I am not talking uber good quality, nothing to compete with bose or the other portable speakers, just something for when you are hanging with a friend, or group of friends, you can share your tunes.

This is the worst idea I have heard for the iPod. Do you not know how annoying it is when some moron is playing noise from their 'phone on a bus/train/etc. for everyone else to hear? I am not saying you would do that, but can you imagine how many people would start doing this? The whole point of the iPod and any portable music player is that you can listen to your music and not bother anyone else using your earphones. If you want everyone else to hear it, become very 80s and buy a ghettoblaster.

Hopefully that dinky clickwheel will be done with! Also, hopefully, we can have some NEW features on this one, other than "if you pull your headphones out the music pauses," which, by the way, was awful considering I love playing with the headphone jack. "Shuffle Songs"...bah! Just have shuffle->songs selected and press play on the main menu if you have just rebooted, or select a track in Songs and go from there.

So, hopefully we'll get some new features on the ACTUAL 4th generation, not a nice upgrade from our second generation.

colour screen iPod mini... who really need bluetooth headphne, I'll just end up loosing it a hundred times [new source of revenue for apple :p, for clumsy, forgetful users like me] and more colour options for iPod mini... orange and blue??? candy striped? polka dotted? they should just give you the option of what pattern do you want to have on your iPod...
