  • I like the display case idea for the signed one, and that'd make me feel a little better about not using it anymore. ;)
  • No, my friend doesn't read this forum. ;) He's not a Mac person (yet), but like me he's a Unix person who's fed up with Windows. He's very impressed with OS X and I believe one day he'll be a switcher. :D

Awesome, that is two contributions I made that were actually mentioned by the OP! This has to be the most helpful I have ever been, to anyone :p

If you like Joe Satriani then I think that displaying it would be cool, and aside from who he even is, that signature looks sweet. The 'Murphy's Law' comment is more than likely true, as the world will just turn slightly the day you return the Photo, change pressure or something stupid and your iPod will die for good...sorry.

It sounds like
  • You are putting time into the idea of keeping/returning
  • Your friend made it clear he is okay with you exchanging it for something else as he wants it to be something you really want

I think either way you can't go wrong, just make a decision, and then open the Photo ;)

If I were you..

I'd sell my 3G on eBay and keep the Photo.

BTW, what is the "gap problem"?

The 'gap problem' is that if you have an album without gaps in it it sounds really disjointed on your iPod because it puts gaps in and the songs don't flow together like they are supposed to. Very annoying. Sure you could join all of those albums that don't have gaps in iTunes but that's a crappy solution really.

Hey, I've got a suggestion... Keep the Photo and give the 3G to your unixoid friend! Have him look into open-source software to load (and unload) the iPod.

And who knows, maybe he likes this Satriani fellow too.
