An added benefit is a better Instant Pace when outdoors if you set Speed Source to be the footpod.

I've never actually liked that, but it's because my stride rate/length changes dramatically between different paces. Seems to throw the paces just as out of whack as the instant pace from GPS. I'm a fan of having AVG Pace showing, and Instant Pace. Most people I run with don't have those issues though, and have theirs set up the same way.

hahahaha the mental image.

funny.

but my shirt usually covers it up anyway, and if it didn't, well i've never been one who's too worried about what people think, so no biggie. it does work much better than buying a new exercise case any time i switch phones (which i admit is more often than it should be).

MOTOACTV for Apple?

In essence, my desire is to have a product that includes everything in my iPod Nano (with wireless headphones) and fuse it with my Garmin 305 watch. All the data, all the music. Make the display readable without a backlight (or just put a small fusion reactor in there).

Oh, and while they are at it, give me a subscription to iTunes music - I haven't bought a song in over 18 months since subscribing with Rdio.

The Motorola MOTOACTV just about fits the bill as far as features go, but I want Apple to do it.

i basically run with a fanny pack. keep my iphone in it when running, using the nike+ apps and c25k.

EVERYONE tells me that fanny packs are OUT, 'gay', and make people look like mental patients... I use it biking now. But seriously, the fanny pack is THE BEST to carry my wallet, iPhone, and car keys.

If you are running even somewhat seriously, you might as well get a GPS watch. They cost as little as 99$, and worth every single cent. Much more accurate than using a phone GPS/Nike+ accelerometer, and almost all upload to the web.

my feeling is this isn't true.

I run with iPhone 4s, using Runmeter app. Turn off the cell data and wifi while running to maximize GPS accuracy, and its very accurate indeed.

I use a Wahoo Fitness bluetooth 4 Heart Rate monitor, again, very accurate, no wires, no extras.

Great combination.

Runmeter is a great app, no social required, export data in every format, please do check out this app as I think its the most pro running app out there.

its called iPhone

I only use my nano for runs because clipping it to my waistband is perfect. Unfortunately I think my sweat is starting to ruin its connection to my earbuds :(. I don't use the Nike+ app because it's never been accurate (for me, anyway) and I always end up mapping my runs on mapmyrun.com anyway. I know I could use the mapmyrun app on my iPhone but I don't like having any extra bulk on my runs - just some solid tunes to help push through those later miles.
