iPod Touch Jailbreak Question - reposted as suggested

This may have been covered, but, I could not find it.

My iPod is currently loaded with 4.3.3.

Is it necessary to use iTunes to Restore to 4.3.3 then sn0breeze to Jailbreak, or can I just make sure I am backed up in iTunes and jailbreak?

Restoring will give you a clean jailbreak, but backing up will ensure everything is saved and as such, restoring isn't necessary at all.
