This update seems to have made my 2016 15 MBP slightly slower. I even had the whole system freeze up and had to hard reset. Also my caps lock got stuck on all caps and i had to restart to get lower case back. Its definitely not as smooth and the previous version for me...

Download the combo updater and run it over your install. If that fails, you can download the full Sierra 10.12.6 installer and run it over your data.

MORE INFO ON WHY RUNNING COMBO FIXES ISSUES

Apple updates available from the Software Update application are incremental updates. Delta updates are also incremental updates and are available from Apple Downloads (software updates are generally smaller than delta updates). The Combo updates contain all incremental updates and will update files that could have become corrupted.

Combo updaters will install on the same version as they're applying--no need to roll back or do a clean install.

"Delta" updaters can only take you from one version to the next. For example: 10.12.5 to 10.12.6. If somehow the 10.12.5 is missing something it should have, and that something isn't changed between 10.12.5 and 10.12.6 it will still be stale after the delta update.

Both options are considered safe, but as usual, you should always backup your drive first with Time Machine and clone backups.

I always apply a point release using the combo update.

The combo update is a image installer that you click on and execute. You have to physically download and manually execute the combo update.

A Combo Update includes all the point releases in one update. It will update the original .0 update of the original release of the OS to the present, and anything in between.

BTW, that is the method I use whenever I update a Mac OS.

^^^^Unless there's something missing and making the after update OS unstable. Then a full install may solve the issue.

Try applying the 10.12.6 combo update.

A complete format and reinstall of 10.12.6 makes the 2017 notebooks perform about 5% faster, I heard. Battery life, on the other hand, gets improved by about 10 minutes.

But, I heard, these notebooks perform better on 10.13.

In truth, I have a question.

I understand that most people who use their computers and have working lives just perform software updates through the normal update mechanisms available to the public such as MAS. Those who are more technically inclined/ face some difficulty/ got something broken using the said channel will then get a Combo update done. Sometimes, they may just default to that route, coming from experiences of wasted time using MAS and then having to download and run Combos just a little too often for taste. Rarely ever, do people think of full system reinstall unless there is something that has gone wrong cripplingly.

So, my question is, do you really have the time for a full clean install and then reinstalling all your software and all that, in search of that ever-elusive "better"? That, too, for a point update?

10.12.5 seemed to run better on my 2016 MBP 15". Since installing 10.12.6 using the update process I've had issues with my bluetooth mouse connecting, and touch ID being flaky.

[doublepost=1501684619][/doublepost]That's interesting . I just replaced the HD in my iMac 2009 and about a week ago my system started to freeze up - totally frozen so that I had to hard start it - I was ready to give up when I saw your post - any fixes noted?

Nope, still the same after these weeks...maybe Apple will release an update for this in the future ( before High Sierra releases)
