10 PST has come and gone without the update. I'd say if it doesn't show up within the next hour, it's not happening until next week. Frustrating.
if you think my question or rather, concern has anything to do with being “desperate” for an update then quite frankly, you are part of the problem and the reason why Apple sees it as acceptable to release an unfinished bug filled and riddled software products such as BigSur that pose major security issues such as the allowance of built in processes to BYPASS Little Snitch and similar applications without the user’s consent. That has been rectified in 11.2 which is what makes the update so important yet you come here downplaying the issue as it’s not a big deal within my post calling me desperate and what not and you should truly be ashamed of yourself. It’s because of people like you that the trend of releasing unfinished software products that even include privacy violating code such as in BigSur being released to the masses is considered to be acceptable these days.If you're desperate for 11.2 you can always install the RC. Plenty of us are running it and it's nice and stable.
I don't recall them releasing macOS updates on Fridays. It looks as if it's going to be next week unless there will be a RC3.10 PST has come and gone without the update. I'd say if it doesn't show up within the next hour, it's not happening until next week. Frustrating.
Relax, I wasn't implying that it's wrong for you to want the update. Some people are doing okay with 11.1 and are happy to wait for 11.2 to officially come out because they're not having issues. But if you're having problems with 11.1 that are fixed with 11.2, the RC is available for you if you want it.if you think my question or rather, concern has anything to do with being “desperate” for an update then quite frankly, you are part of the problem and the reason why Apple sees it as acceptable to release an unfinished bug filled and riddled software products such as BigSur that pose major security issues such as the allowance of built in process to BYPASS Little Snitch and similar applications without the user’s consent. It's listed as RC3 on the developer website.11.2 build 20D64 is out now at least on the developer beta channel. Unclear if this is a public release.
You do know that the final iOS 14.4 has some major Bluetooth glitches right? It’s far from a proper releaseMaybe iOS update was forced out earlier than planned due to urgent security fix
20D62 (RC 2) took a while: 20 - 30 minutes. 20D64 (RC 3) was fast: about 10 minutes.Edit: takes forever to install. I though they said they were speeding up the updates, not slowing them down!
RC2 and RC3 took the same time on my machine, 20-30 minutes. On RC3, it was showing 10 minutes remaining for 20 minutes, LOL.20D62 (RC 2) took a while: 20 - 30 minutes. 20D64 (RC 3) was fast: about 10 minutes.
Well if RC 3 was about rapidly fixing a sudo vulnerability that was newly discovered, it makes more sense that they did it that way. It seems like after a few very public blunders when it comes to updates, they have decided that any change requires additional testing before launching it to millions of devices.Third try with the RC. Happy they are taking the time to patch things, unhappy they are still finding things in a release candidate that are serious enough to require 3 of them so far. Perhaps we would be better served if these bugs were squashed in incremental 'updates', and leave a new full update to when they really have something to show for it? You know, like a 'one more thing' moment.
We know too that the day of the Gold Release, they will likely also announce (if not make available) the Beta for the next one. Like, why bother even with this release, except to keep the Macolytes content with with something 'new'?
the Sudo exploit was NOT fixed in RC3 so its either going to be fixed in RC4 or the final release.Well if RC 3 was about rapidly fixing a sudo vulnerability that was newly discovered, it makes more sense that they did it that way. that's exactly my point, there are alot of issues in 11.1 and yet there are people here on the forums coming to this thread saying words like "desperate" etc and JUSTIFYING apple's decision for letting us be on this unstable 11.1 that is filled with RAM management issues and countless bugs that are straight up outrageous.I jumped on the beta train because there were reports of issues in 11.1 with Parallels Desktop, which I use to occasionally run Windows 10. I've had no issues with any of the beta versions and will probably unenroll from the beta program when the final version of 11.2 is released. I agree with @Bazza1 - Why bother with regularly installing new beta updates if I've got a stable version that's working just fine?
Nonetheless, the beta program is a nice option to have. It allowed me to install a version of Big Sur that's free of many of the bugs that exist in the 11.1 release.
What’s stopping you from jumping on RC3?Bored on a Sunday... anyone speculating on whether we'll see the final 11.2 tomorrow? or Tue? I'm having a lot of crashes with 11.1 and am fighting the urge to jump on RC3.
What’s stopping you from jumping on RC3?
Same here, nothing that can't wait a day or two. Considering that there have been several RCs, I would not be surprised if the public release is a different build than RC3.nothing really just didn't want to waste the time if someone who knows more than me says it's coming out tomorrow or Tue
But if it's gonna be another week or more I'll probably jump on board- even if we get an RC4 this week.
That's the beta. Click on "About This Mac" then click the word "version". It will say "Version 11.2 (20D64)".I just got the 11.2 on m 2014 mini today. I am beta but it says 11.2. Does not say beta.
big sur updates
