I don't think it is, but I like to keep a lot of media and apps on my devices. I have a 32GB iPhone, and it doesn't seem like enough to me.

If you plan on doing activities that mostly involve streaming media or remote access, you're probably fine with 16GB. I don't think ebooks will take up much room, so that won't make a big hit either. But if you're going to drop your entire iPhoto library and a bunch of movies on there, you might want to upgrade.

I have 12 movies that are taking up about 1/2 of my wife's 32 GB iPad. I also have a small sample of music (~50 albums), 2 books, and about 3000 pictures. I currently have 8 GB free from the 29.04 available on an empty 32GB iPad.

I think that I could live with 32GB OK... but it would be tight. I ordered the 64GB 3G for myself... at which point my wife actually takes possession of the one I am using in the interim.

In a few months, when the more professional apps are starting to roll out, I doubt the 16GB will be enough to hold everything...

16gb - way to go and if it's not enough great "excuse" to upgrade when the newer model comes out - probably in time for Christmas

I was sure I would get a 16 GB version, but for some reason I bought the 32 GB. I guess when I realized my Nano had 16 GB I got a little scared lol. But really, I think 16 will do just fine.

I still have 3.5GB left over in mine. I have 9GB+ of music, 1.8GB of photos and about 500MB of apps. I could always get rid of the music since my 32GB iPod touch has all my music.

16 gig version is perfect for us right now. If not, I have a niece who would love a hand me down.

As the saying goes, buy as much as you can afford.

Completely agree. You can never too much space for movies/ pictures/ music/ apps.

If I end up getting an iPad I'll probably spring for the 32gb Wifi so that I'll have ample space for movies, pictures and apps.

This is going to make me sound a bit stupid but if all my photos take up 2GB on my iPod Touch will they take up 2GB on an iPad? Same for movies?

I went with the 16GB and I have no regrets. I use my iPod nano for listening to music while working out and in the car, so I'm not going to load up my iPad with any of that anyway. And as far as video goes, I can stream from Netflix, ABC, You Tube, etc. The iPad's main use here is going to be for web surfing, e-mail, streaming video and reading books, so the 16GB model is plenty enough for me.

I bought a 16gb wi-fi to tide me over until my 32gb 3G comes out. However, after filling it up with a ton of photos (which it optimized) all my music, apps and two movies (1 HD) I still have 2gb left. I am starting to think i will get a 16gb 3G instead.

I have about 75 gb of music so obviously I'd be very selective about what I'd put on the ipad..
I'm returning my 16gb ipad because I've decided that I'd rather have a new macbook pro when they come out. I'm probably going to get the 2nd gen ipad whenever they come out though (base model which I'm hoping will be bumped up to at least 32gb). 16gb is plenty.. I would never pay extra for more.. but 32gb is a little more on the safe side.. especially if you aren't the type that upgrades every year.

On my second day now, I went through the app advice list and added all the apps that are currently free for launch that will be pay apps soon. So now I have 3 full pages of apps, synced all my photos from my phone, added the movie UP! and some south park episodes. Added all my music and I have about 6 or 7 big games on top of the free ones and I am down to 10gb free.

I think 16gb is perfect size, I have more than i need on it right now and still plenty of room free. I don't think you could possibly fill up the 16gb unless you intentionally filled it with movies you've already watched or something. No need for me, that Netflix app is freaking awesome for streaming movies.

I was initially wary of the 16gb thinking it might be too small but it's just plenty of room and i'm glad i didn't spend extra for the 32 or 64gb now.

64gb?

I still plan to use my ipod for music, I use the 80GB i have on it. My 16GB iPhone only has my favorite music on it, favorite pics, and I swap movies on and off, mainly from digital versions that come with my blu rays, my iphone is out of room, can't wait for the next iPhone. I most likely will on put my RUSH music collection on the iPad, and favorite pictures.
I do not plan on buying many movies from iTunes, but I love the idea of netflix for the iPad. Does anyone know how many GB's netflix uses? Plus not all my digital movies will be on my ipad, again, mainly my favorite movies. Why I swap them from my iPhone.
I think in the end if I don't get the 64GB version I will be annoyed, even though the price goes up a lot. I also do video editing and I could see the iPad as a great way of showing off my work and using it to help my sales. Granted I then would be taking the ipad everywhere with me. I use my iPhone for showing my work, but as you all know it's a small screen.
I would assume I am a 64GB candidate, except with the new Mac Pro coming out it will be an expensive year! Bad money timing.

I most likely will on put my RUSH music collection on the iPad...

A fine use of your iPads memory, if ever there was one. :D

Other than that I think if it is mainly for home use, there will be apps that let you stream your video collection to the iPad so it need not take any room...
