We are halfway in the life cycle at this point, and I still have 70-80GBs on board storage and 185GB cloud storage. I'll wait until August to sell this, then in the interim for the iPP 2, i'll use my 9.7"... if they don't update the iPP, I'll just buy the 256GB iPP 1. lol

That's an interesting plan. Why not wait to see IF the iPP2 will be forthcoming and then sell the iPP1 and buy the 2? What benefit will there be to selling the iPP1 in August? Resale values of the iPP aren't so good right now (I don't think that will worsen or improve over time), but if there is NO iPP2 then the resale value may actually stabilize.

So you own both the 12.9 and 9.7" iPad?

Where is the guy that has/had in his signature about having all the iPhones, iPads, Macs, BMW, beach house and trophy wife? I'm sure he bought the 256gb model. He even had the prices of his stuff although not how much he paid for his wife.

Maybe he bought two.

Personally the 128gb is enough for me but it never leaves the house. I would like a 256gb iphone though because I only have 4gb left on my 128gb

That would be boltjames - he cracks me up!

I've used 94.5GB with 19.1 GB available of my 128 GB. I still have time to exchange for a 256GB. Not sure what to do? Any thoughts anyone?

No such thing as having too much space. Even if apple comes out with a 1TB iPad, I am sure we will find million reasons why the 512gb is not the right fit and why we need the 1TB one. Always buy the top of the line model as most of us don't change/upgrade iPads every year unlike some folks here.

I got my iPad pro with 256GB.

In years of experience with the iPad, you can never have too much space, you'll eventually run up into not being able to install an app or download a movie.

Seems overkill now, but maybe not in a year or two.

Yup. Have hit a few times when I couldn't update navigation software (with built-in maps) because I didn't have enough free space on my 128GB iPad.

I hav the 128GB, it's nice have ALL my music saved on the iPad and still have 50-60GB to play with

I think part of it depends on what other idevices you have? I have a 64GB iPhone and install a bunch of games and music there.. I don't need to duplicate things on the iPad, so 128GB seems easily enough.. If it wasn't for games even my old 16GB iPad3 did a pretty good job.. (Though it would have failed miserably if I'd tried using it more for photos or video!)

Ain't that the truth. I remember a long, long time ago getting my first 20MB (yes I typed that right :D ) hard drive and thinking, I'll never be able to fill this much space.

...... Took me a while to learn because I also thought that with my first 100MB and 1GB. Now I've got over 14TB and I'm desperately needing more. You never know what crap you'll full it up with. iPads aren't much different, the more the merrier I say.

Before I got my 256GB iPad Pro:
  • iPhone 32/64GB: Music and photos. Some videos taken using the iPhone and haven't been offloaded yet.
  • iPad Air 16GB (iOS 9): Some ebooks and small PDF files. Core apps (GoodReader, Excel, banking, etc). This was my go-everywhere iPad.
  • iPad 4 128GB (iOS 6): ~100GB manga/comics. Some large apps (navigation, games, etc). Used to be my go-everywhere iPad but when apps started requiring iOS 7 and higher, got relegated to mostly at-home use or brought only during long trips.
  • iPad 3 64GB (iOS 9): Movies and TV shows (Plex, Amazon, Disney, Flixster and iTunes).
The iPad Pro 256GB will be replacing three iPads. So glad I can finally read comics on the go again. Spare storage for movies and TV is icing on the cake. Having only 16GB on the Air felt very limiting. The Air was only supposed to be a short-term solution since I needed the universal LTE for travel but I ended up skipping the Air 2 because it didn't have a 256GB version. Boy do I regret that decision.

Lol, I'm a digital hoarder so I'm another who can never have too much storage. :D It's a good thing drives have come down in $/GB since the Thailand floods. Moving from a custom-built 12TB unRAID file server to a pair of Synology DS1815+ (High Availability Cluster) with 24TB each to start with. :p

I wrote my first code 45 years ago this year. The thought of individual programs being 1MB in size? You're crazy!! Who talks in MB's?

I wrote my first code 41 years ago. It would be a few years after that before I would own my own computer... TRS-80 Model I w/Level I BASIC. I thought I was really something when I updated it with a Level II ROM. Dang! I'm an old geezer.:D

The resale isn't too great for iPP right now, BUT it will worsen as time goes by. I sell all my iPads in August as I have multiple iOS devices and don't always upgrade those. Doing it this way has saved me a bit more money than waiting. And even if they don't update the 12.9" and I sold my iPP... I'll just buy it again, but the 256GB one. :)

First, let me say that storage gigabytes are like closet space. You can't have enough of it. The more you have the more you will fill it up. Now that that has been said, I always purchase the largest iPad available. No exception when I got the iPad Pro 12.9" AT&T, of course, I got the 128 GB. I didn't know a 256 was coming. While I'd love to have the 256 GB, I don't need it. Truthfully, I am becoming more adept at using cloud storage. This makes a huge difference and makes my files available for my iPhone, iPad, or MacBook. No looking for thumb drives or emailing them to myself.

45 years ago, wow, how many punch cards did it use up ;)

Closet space you say? I'm going to need massive storage in that case cos the wife uses up 90% of my space :D
Cloud storage is great, I use it myself, trouble is You can't be guaranteed access to it. It's fine if you're in a home/place of work or somewhere not too rural. But go outside of that and local storage has its benefits.

You still go places that do not have WiFi, 3G, 4G, or LTE?
