Ahh! Don't say that!!

So, would you not bother?

But the 17" is only 1440x900...

Is it that much different?

PS: Anyone know about the software?

I still use my old 15" 800Mhz, superdrive iMac. I find nothing wrong with the screen. My MB's screen is of coarse way brighter and better, but your eyes adjust very quickly to the iMac's screen:)

Why not just get the MBP and lean how to use OS X on that? Seems like a waste to get an iMac to "learn" and later spend more on the one you really want. It's not like the type of computer has anything to do with learning the OS...

Another factor to keep in mind is that the iMac only has two RAM slots and uses a older/slower laptop style of memory that is more expensive for upgrades.

I've blown it anyway...

I made an offer, and haggled too much, so he just said no.

It's probably a blessing in disguise anyway...

You're probably right, I could just wait for MBP...I guess I'm just a bit scared of "switching"...

I think you should wait and get the MB/MBP it is an exeptional machine and you will be more satisfied with it. I'm the owner of an iMac G4 and it is a great computer and 370 seems like a great offer for it, but you seem like your very unsure of whether you will be happy with your decision or not so I say save those 370 get a MBP or MB + Extra RAM and HD. Its been rumored that they are going to get updated soon so you might more for your buck.

It's an old computer, and computers of that age start to have problems if used daily, in my experience...

I think it's wiser to hold off, and maybe get a really cheap one for the moment until I get my MBP...

If you guys think the ram needs to be bumped up on a 512mb machine imagine running 10.4 on a 700mhz iMac G4 with 256mb ram! Sloooooooooowwww...
