Is 5s going to be too slow with ios10?

Seems like iOS 10 betas so far are more than fine on the 5 based on https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/ios-10-on-the-iphone-5-amazing.1987653/ (and are seen as being quite good in general going by https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/ios-10-is-the-os-that-ios-9-promised-to-be.1988513/) so it'll all likely be just fine on the 5s.
Multiple reports appear to have very little issues noted with 5s on iOS Beta. However, any future updates is uncertain until iOS 10 officially rolls out.
It will be fine. There don't seem to be any wide architectural changes in 10 like we're in 8 (Metal). There aren't any new areas that stutter, lag or slow down considerably.
5 and 5s' 1 GB RAM is still enough for iOS. 4S and 4 had just 512 MB, which proved too small for newer iOS versions, and also weak GPU. 5 may even be a little smoother than 5s as it doesn't use Metal (which is 64bit-only and known to be not as optimized as the old OpenGL).

It shouldn't be any slower than the 6 and 6 plus are on iOS 10
Might even be a bit faster than the 6 plus actually
I used iOS 10 beta on a 5s for a while and it ran great
I am one of those who "wonder the same". 
Anyway, it is a good news that it works.

First few hours with 10 beta 6 feel equally fast as 9. New messages app feels confusing at first
I have a sensitive eye for lag and stutter, and iOS10 is better than iOS9.
I bit the bullet and installed iOS 10 public beta on my 5s yesterday. First impressions - the phone feels very fast and smooth overall. There was a bit of initial lag when launching the camera shortcut from the lock screen but then was quite responsive afterwards.
Definitely better than iOS 9.3.4.

no. my friend has ios 10 beta 7 on a 5s cause i told him about it, it runs just fine no faster no slower
No way to downgrade it back to 8.4.1. Guess you need to determine whether the new features and security are worth having. Not sure how iOS10 is performing on the 5C but it seems to be working well on most devices. Maybe hold off for now until more feedback on the final release. You can always upgrade whenever you want but no going backwards.
8.4.1 is the best iOS for iPhone 5s and 6.If you value performance keep it on 8.4.1 .I made this mistake of upgrading and now am facing stutters on iPhone 6
I should have stayed on 8.4.1 with my 5s. But iOS10 feels better than 9. I'm very happy with the switch. Not as good as 8.4.1 but still good.
Similar experience here as well. And many here may recognize me as one of those very framerate-picky people.. I sure was a loudmouth in the early days of iOS 9, let me tell ya.
I haven't run iOS 10 since beta 3 or 4, but it was very smooth on my iPhone 6 and more surprisingly... My iPad mini 2. Quite a few laggy areas were fixed with iOS 10, others got worse.. But overall, I miss it to be honest. I downgraded so I could get in on the iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak, but I get itches to drop the jailbreak and go back to iOS 10 at times. I'm not even totally sure why, I just miss it.
On iPad mini 2, creating new tabs while in the tab view always had a choppiness to it, smooth as butter on iOS 10. Rotating the keyboard always lagged as well, this was alleviated on iOS 10. It wasn't all perfect though. Unlocking the device when many notifications were on the lock screen caused some stuttering, quick reply was quite laggy, and control center was maybe a bit more jumpy. Notification Center had a lagginess to it when many notifications were coming down, due to the blur effect with the new bubble style notifications had. Tapping the search bar on the lock screen or widget screen had some lag when it blurred everything out and brought in spotlight.
Despite all the bad though... I still quite liked iOS 10. All the laggy areas are more obscure, picky things. It's not like the app switcher being 10FPS (it still isn't perfect but eh) or the control center being janky in iOS 9. With iOS 10, the more common interactions got smoother while the newer stuff with blur effects have gotten somewhat worse, unless it's been fixed by now. Which it very well could have.
Actually 10 is better than 8 was as well. Seems they are really focusing on optimization and performance with this one like they said they were doing with 9. Stands to reason the final should be even more so.

Neither of those phones are what the OP asked, but you probably just wanted to jump in with your typical "iOS 8.4.1 is the best EVER" even though just as many, if not more people complained more about iOS 8 in its time than people did with iOS 9 in its time.
And iPhone 6 runs iOS 10 amazingly well. Better than iOS 8 or 9. So much for your planned obsolescence crackpot theories.
PO was real. Apple got the heat from most tech websites and their engineers do read MacRumors posts. The badwill generated was too great to ignore.
The guy @Radon87000 had a point about UI stuttering. Many many people including myself were affected by it. You simply cannot come and post passive aggressively and dismiss all of us outright.
Actually I would say that we had a small victory that Apple backtracked. All our bitching about UI performance worked in our favor. They have realised that optimising iOS for older devices is needed to keep their public image intact. Otherwise, what's the difference between stuttering Android and stuttering iOS?
Btw same can be said about your Planned Apple Love theories which just polish Apple's shortcomings with pure unadulterated love.
