refurb imac, where to buy?

where would be the best place to purchase a refurb iMac 24" ? im highly interested in getting a refurb now that i read this info on this awesome forum!! im new here by the way and thanks for the info guys! thanks, joe.

The best place is from the apple website, apple.ca in canada. You get the apple warranty for 1 yr, just like the new macs. Good luck.

Well I am typing away here from my refurbed 24" iMac. Had it a few weeks now and now problems at all. I didn't get her via Apple but rather one of the resellers on line. She had the 500Gb Seagate drive but I decided that was too small and I opened her up today and fitted a 2Tb WD drive. Pretty easy to do and probably too 15 minutes or so. I also had her ram doubled to 4 Gb before purchase.
I am running Snow Leopard and Windows 7 using Parallels with ease!! Never going back to a normal PC. The quality of the Apple product speaks for itself. Now if only they could get iPhone4 right..........

Considering the disproportionately high number of complaints regarding the current 27" iMacs -- and particularly the complaints about the display -- Apple-refurbished 24" iMacs look to be a "good buy" right now.

The 24" iMacs don't use a newfangled LED-backlight for their displays, and don't suffer from the "yellow tinge problem".

If you aren't one of those fanboys who absolutely has-to-have the "newest, latest, greatest", it makes a LOT of sense.

A good place to keep your eye out for 24" refurbs is here:
http://www.refurb.me/

They don't come into stock as frequently as do the 27" models, but they do show up from time to time.

You can click on the model you're interested in (even if not in stock), enter your email address, and then you'll get a notification when they are in stock again.

The 3.06ghz model is one of Apple's best buys, selling at almost 40% below what it sold for new.

Yes, refurb discontinued models have excellent discounts. Last year I picked up the discontinued Al MacBook for $1100 that was $1600 new. Of course you are buying older technology that Apple will make obsolete sooner, and that does reduce their value.

Regarding the 27", I don't understand the continual problems some people are having with getting good ones. I bought one make the second week of production (back when there were complaints of cracked glass as well as yellow displays and loud hard drives) and it's been 100% perfect. My wife has a 24" bought last year and it has been fine, however the 27" screen *is* much nicer.
