It seems you can get pretty much any iphone part you want from the mainboard to the screen on the internet. It may be feasible, when the ipad 2.0 comes out with the camera, to somehow retrofit it's camera to the ipad 1.0. Me, I'll probably just buy the 2.0 anyhow.

Seem to remember someone saying in another thread how interesting it is that everyone harps "gotta have a camera, gotta have a camera" but when you ask how many folks actually use their webcam/chat program on a regular basis, the number is phenomenally low. Our mouths are always bigger than our stomachs...

Are you that ignorant to having a camera on the iPad?

Front facing camera- skype, iChat, facebook
back facing camera - augmented reality.

Your grammar is atrocious. But in answer to your question, none of that interests me. At all.

Thanks for sharing!

Exactly. I never use any of the webcams on any of my computers. Not the least bit interested.

They could probably make a camera that plugs into the dock connector. I doubt Apple will do it, but maybe a third party could. It could actually have an advantage over a built in front facing camera. They could make one that allows you to rotate it so it's facing the front or the back depending on what you want to use it for. If they can make credit card scanners I don't see why a camera would be a problem.

I think the camera would have been a cool accessory but that was before I got my pad. I have to agree that to hold it in a position to give a picture that is not a view up my nose is uncomfortable. To be really useful, it would have to be able to pivot. Or be on a tether to the dock.

I had to use Skype a lot this year to communicate with relatives abroad and around the country. The Internet is becoming so clogged, that 2/3s of the time you have to deselect video to even talk. The times it works, it will freeze frames for periods. They must have some very advanced software to select the least flattering pose to freeze you correspondent in. At times is caused hysterical laughter at their expense.

What ever improvements come out in pad2, the lack or addition of a camera will not be the deciding, or even influencing factor. At least until the net can support video beyond novelty value levels.

That would be really handy for 'photocopying' documents. I'd use that at work a lot. The big iPad screen would be perfect for reading them later.

Personally, I have no use for a camera built into the iPad and I don't understand why people make such a big deal about the iPad not having a camera. You can get a dedicated camera that fits in your pocket that will do a better job at taking pictures than a cheesy camera in an iPad or iPhone.

They most likely want it for iChat or similar, not photo taking.
