I am very happy. Sure some things can be better but so can MacOS.
Regarding laptop replacement. I bet most laptops are used for consumption, some e-mailing, social media, some home editing of videos and photos, some light office use etc. All this can be done on an iPad hence it is a laptop replacement for these users.
Regarding the M1: I have yet to experience a too fast computer. The discussion of progress bars is an indication you need to wait for the computer and hence it is too slow.
