At this point nobody knows anything. At all. You can't assume a thing with Apple. Nobody knows when the Merom MBP's are coming. You are all just throwing random guesses out there. It could be this week or a month from now. All this speculation is pointless. I read on these sites that the G5 would be the first to recieve the intel processors. Luckly I didn't decide to wait for them because the G5 was the last for the Intel update.

It would be best for all of you who want the Merom MBP to not have any expectations for its release. That way, when it happens we will all be just as surprised as this iMac release.

Hokay!

Fine, then loan me your computer until then, because my Latitude D800 is falling apart, quite literally -p

We won't see a C2D MBP before October. I hate to miss the student ipod promo but it's simply not going to happen.

Please. Tell me what are are basing that on. I am really interested how you can be so confident with that statement.

I am in the same boat with you. Sort of. I need my MBP for art school. I am waiting for my next paycheck and then I am ordering mine.

Your best off to stop waiting. Order yours whenever you can. As far as I can tell the Merom is only going to be bringing a 10% speed boost and 64 bit processing. The thing with 64 bit is that its not going to be utilized for about two years.. Maybe less.

So, if you need it now get it now. You won't be dissapointed. And as long as you order a stock MBP you have your 14 days to exchange if the Meroms do happen to release.

I'm pretty sure you just pulled October out of your ass.

I am so confident because Steve and I just got back from lunch and enemas and he let me in on the bad news. He was sooo relaxed that he let it slip out, LOL! No, really, I am nobody that knows anything. Just seems unlikely given this week new imac's and new mini's. Would Apple really update so much hardware in such a short time frame. Maybe they would. I don't really know obviously. I would love to see them next week though! I am right there with you buddy.

My only question is why not? The iMac and the MBP are fairly separate target markets (I didn't use absolutes, if you have both don't bring out the guillotine) and, imo, they're being so closemouthed about it because they like all the buildup. With the impending release of Dell, etc. merom notebooks, they won't be left out. This is the first major upgrade cycle for Intel since Apple made the transition, and they probably don't want the reputation of being slow with their responses to the latest and greatest. I just want them out TOMORROW, kthx.

I bet Steve trolls these forums and gets a perverted from watching us all squirm (that or pays someone to get a perverted pleasure for him...).

The logic regarding apple updating so much hardware in such a short time makes zero sense. Why wouldn't they. Do you think they just like to keep people guessing? Get everyones hopes up and only leak a little at a time? No.

Outside of our little rumor world the masses have no idea that there may be an updated Merom in the MBP.

I hate making guesses, but if we look back. The imacs were the first to get the new processor, followed by the macbook/pro, then the Mac Pro. So if they follow their pattern the MBP's are next. When its going to happen? No clue.

I just think its funny how you could base it on nothing and say the Meroms won't come out until october.

P.S. I don't mean any of this post to sound like a attack/diss/smack/flame whatever. So try to take it with a grain of salt. No need for an angry reply.

I'm still holding out for MBP releases tomorrow. If they can do the iMac on a Wednesday, why not something else on a Thursday? ...

Maybe Apple will release something new everyday for a week!

I am hoping for upgraded MacBook since I need to buy one for my brother. I hope apple upgrades come by the Paris event, maybe I am being too optimistic.

Well, of course it's getting an Core 2 Duo - the iMac announcement today pretty much guaranteed that - but I'm saying I think the media event on the 12th is consumer focused; I don't see a laptop announcement being thrown in there...

And laptops arent consumer focused?

oh i dont think so, iMac G5 was the first in the Intel update, no? Please, if you meant Powermac G5, say powermac G5, or even powermac is fine, but if you say G5, it only shows you have no idea what you are talking about

if apple's gonna update mbp anytime in the next two weeks, they'd group everything together and hold out an event or something... because since iMac update made the front page of apple.com, they aren't gonna take that page down in a week.. c'mon, it's just not logical. they'd wait at least a couple weeks so anybody happen to visit apple.com can see that a new imac is released (as we all know, not everyone visit macrumors everyday to see if there's a new releases)... which means, nothing else will make the front page of apple.com, which means, mbp is not gonna release, new ipod, iphone is gonna release... etc,

you all can follow that logic

I don't think Apple would update anything it wants people to notice on a Friday. Products are generally announced early- to mid-week.
That's interesting. The last couple of OS X releases came out on Friday. If they are simply dropping C2D into the MPB, I think it can happen anytime. Maybe they'll just do it quietly next Tuesday morning before the Special Event starts. Then Steve will pronounce that all Macs are shipping with the latest Intel processors.

All I know is I've been waiting for this MBP update to replace my aging TiBook @ 1 GHz.

There's 5 spots on the front page for new items. My guess will be that the Mac Commercials will go as well as the Leopard Preview and be replaced with two new items. The PowerMac may also go away from the front page giving a 3rd space to something else.

Doesn't anyone remember when the page would randomly load with 1 of 5 features being the main one with 4 different ones under it?

There's nothing ambiguous about G5, so I guess you have no idea what you're talking about. There were 2 revs of the iMac G5 before the first Intel iMac was introduced in January. A G5 is the PPC processor that came after the G4 PPC processor. Got it?

And by your logic, I guess whatever is being announced at the Special Event next Tuesday can't be big enough to displace the new iMac off the front of Apple.com, since "they'd wait at least a couple weeks so anybody happen to visit apple.com can see that a new imac is released".

And no, I can't follow your "logic".

No, I can't. There's nothing logical about it except logical fallacy. You're assuming that apple does not like to change the front of its website and that that dictates their product timetables. I find that unlikely. Nor is it logical to say they would hold an event and release everything at once. Last I checked, each separate product or some subset thereof has been updated on its own. I see no reason for them to deviate from that behavior all of a sudden.

Yeah. Sorry. I have no idea what I am talking about.

Give me a break. You can easily assume that by G5, and me saying the last computer to get the intel chip, that I meant powermac.

I own a G5 Powermac. I know what I am talking about.

Then again, I'm a little biased about this since Apple tore my heart out of my chest by not releasing a new MBP today.

Ditto..... The sooner the better on the MBP update..... With Apple, it could be tomorow, or October, no one can really say either with more certainity than saying the other....
