Has anyone here gotten battery replacement for 29 dollars? And if so, is it at least 5 days apart when getting the appointment?
My daughter and I got ours done at Best Buy. Same day appointment and both ready in less around 20 minutes. Huge difference in battery life!

Genius bars are understaffed because the job market is HOT and those people are getting non-retail jobs. Betters hours, better pay, better benefits and fewer insane people.

This more than anything.

Newbies or people working less than 5 years are making anywhere between 24-28/hr depending on the exact title and those who’ve been around for almost ten years or more are making over $30 easily. Not bad, but also not great compared to other tech jobs out there.

hi there when was this and same price? Also doesn't that void your warranty? So best buy uses same batteries as apple and not those 3rd party right?

Apple stores have become overrun and completely obnoxious to visit anymore.

I think it's time to stop blending the sales floor with the gobs of people eating for appointments.

This was back shortly after the announcement of the $29 offer. As far as I know it was all the same. They were listed as an authorized service provider. Now others have listed terrible service from B.B. but we were both happy with the battery replacement.

Besides the technology, design and software I have always loved Apple for customer service. Having to wait a week for a Genius Bar appointment (all too common these days) really lowers their reputation IMHO. Furthermore the buying experience in my location has really suffered. Another story for another thread.

I had no trouble getting an appointment to replace the battery on my 7 - did it in between the XS and XR launches so I wouldn't hit the busiest times. Think I did it Wed for a Sat appt but there was Fri times too.

The wait times here in NYC can be a pain and we have about 7-9 stores in the city. Trying to find an appointment that is next day can be a job within itself. Then when you get there the wait can get annoying and there's no where to sit. Not to mention if they have to repair anything these days it's like they don't do it in store anymore. I remember you can take your Apple product into one of their stores and they would repair it right there and within a few hours maybe the next day you'd have your Apple product back. Now everything gets shipped and take 4-7 days.

If you’re not looking for an appointment at the Grand Central/5th Ave/possibly WTC it’s actually not impossible!

the issue is more the customers. folks book appointments for all sorts of petty **** they could figure out for themselves if they weren't lazy. or they could call apple support but they are so ignorant about their tech they can't understand the instructions being given to them. sucks up all the time available

not everything gets shipped. a lot yes but not everything. iMacs for example can't be shipped.

as for the whole 'the next day', now that the apple audience isn't just stuck up creative professionals of course it's going to take longer cause you have thousands more users.

This.

I've been 100% Apple for my computing gizmos since 2008 and have only needed three Genius visits over a decade. Last one was a drop-in as phone seemed to brick on its own and was near an Apple store. Even with no appointment, was able to get in in 45 minutes. So if seems like it's getting worse to get in, you're going too often imo.

Or need to drop Apple and go with some other vendor's gear. But then, any support most likely will be mail it in, have them take a look, and contact back in 7-10 days that they found nothing wrong.

Not sure if you noticed but Apple just released its new phone. This causes quite a stir at the Apple stores.

Hard to believe you wear out a cable in two months. I have never had a single cable stop working.

Ever since the lightning cable was introduced, I have seen several issues with these cheap cables. I love my iPhone XS Max.. but those cables are garbage. My experience is that lightning cable wear out relatively quickly. Truly surprised that you have never seen a single cable stop working.

I’m sure this was already mentioned but I’m not going to read all these posts. I recently broke my MacBook screen and was pissed I had to contact customer service (via chat) to get a Genius Bar appt. When I came to the store for the appointment I asked the guy why that changed. He said too many people were making appointments for things they could easily correct by chatting with support or watching a YouTube video and they just don’t have the capacity for stuff like that. I understand now.

I was told the same thing. That’s why I try to fix whatever issue I have before I step foot in the Apple Store. In the last 2 years I only went when I had to have my phone either repaired or get a replacement.

Service used to be better at my locale. For the prices we pay I don’t think customers should go through a maze of online support, or wait a week to get assistance. The thought that even Apple customer service, at its worst, is better than the other companies isn’t much solace IMHO. They used to be better at My local mall-o-rama.

Well to be fair, it cost Apple money to staff the Genius Bar, so all those people that made appointments because they couldn’t figure out how to do simple things are to blame. Ha. Seriously, I completely understand why they made the change.

Yeah service at my local used to be quick. When I got my X screen replaced it took them 4 hours. I was told it normally would take less than 2 hours but they were swamped with repairs and people making appointments for simple things they could do at home.

Same coworker above does this. I think she goes about every other month with some trivial issue easily fixed.

I recently retired my first lightning cable, which came with my iPhone 5 at launch. It wasn’t even because it stopped working or was coming apart. It has just yellowed to the point where it looks gross, and I have accumulated so many over the years, it was time to start working through those.

I have cables wear out all the time... maybe not every two months...but plenty frequently. Mostly the wires start to break through the thin cover.
