I am just wondering being that the MBP came out with the Thunderbolt Port and that is what made me consider getting an iMac for now I can add a Harddrive to the iMac with out any loss of speed (Firewire 800 / USB 2.0) are just too slow.

Being that it has now been out well over a month now has anyone that was looking to get an imac lost intrest in buying one due to how long it is taking for the Refesh to come out?

This is not a question of buy now or later!

Are they taking too long, yes... it's apple.
How many people are waiting for iMac refresh...... loads but not enough yet
Am I bored about writing about waiting for the new iMac..... Yes.
Am I concerned apple will release yet another profit before product, product.... yes.
Are there likely to be faults with the new iMac..... probably.
Will people endless write about faults with new iMac..... Probably.
What will apple do about problems...... Firmware update.
Will the iMac refresh genuinely be as upto date as possible...... Unlikely.
What should be included..... BluRay
Will it be included..... Not bl**dly likely
Will the screen be 4K resolution.... No way but if apple where serious about pushing technology boundaries then it would.
etc etc etc.

Could be Apple is waiting for volume to ramp up on a critical part. They also don't like to introduced products too close together to keep the buzz going. These would be my two possible reasons.

Uh huh, yeah sure. Yet Apple launch new mbp on February and iPad 2 on March

So much for keeping a buzz i think? problem is Apple doesn't love desktop that much anymore. They made more money with their iOS devices and mobile mac family.

So they condemned and delay the mac desktop for as long as possible. I, personally dont like mobile computers. I'm not in college anymore. I'm doing my job at home office. So yes i like the desktop much more. And that include iMac :)

The Profit that apple makes!!!

I know that there is a lot of buzz around the iOS devices. But Apple Makes a lot on the Desktop's Lets just look at the the upgrades. 2TB Hard Drive on Apple Cost $150 for the Upgrade. I can Buy At Retail a 2TB 7200 Hard drive for around $100. Not to mention The fact that when you do the upgrade that you should get the cost back of the 1TB drive. I would also have to guess that apple pays less or around any of the big Retail places. So they have Apx twice the Profit on the on the same hardware. I would also guess that they are making about the same on everything Else.

I am looking to move over to Mac from PC but they are making it really hard to do so since they haven't come out with what I am looking to buy. If they offerd a simple Barebone computer even if the CPU was Locked to the motherboard where you could put in own case or even with a case where you could add HD,s Video Cards, what ever. But they only offer an all in 1 where the only upgrade is from External Devices that are slower.

Only Reason the Mac Pro uses Xeon CPU is to give it a reason to be that much more than a simple ATX solution.

I guess My only hope is that the wait is not too much longer. I want to get an iMac but only with Sandy Bridge and Thunderbolt on it!

Apple Please Hurry up Before I go with another PC.

...and in April an iMac. If they separate new items by 3, 4 or 5 weeks it lets each item carry the spotlight for a while. Given what Apple has done with the iMac in the last few years with regards to desktop CPUs and better graphics, I don't think they no longer love the desktop. The priority is undoubtedly on the mobile and iOS side at the moment but I still think desktop Macs have a future.

The more success Apple has, the more unpredictable they become. It seems like they do it as an "In Your Face" type of move. As we all know they're on quite a roll at the present time, so who knows what they'll do next.

This is one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever heard. There are many factors that go into when a new Apple product is released, "sticking it in your face", isn't one of them.

The wait is agonizing but I haven't lost interest in the refreshed iMac. I figure if your willing to wait you'll wait.

Nah, Apple can release it whenever they want. It'd be different but it's not like they have scheduled releases (or at least not ones that are known to us).

it's only taking too long because we want one so bad!!! ;)

Seriously though, if i decide to buy, this will be my first apple product thus i'm waiting for the new release to see what i'll be getting for my good old English Pounds. The wait always seems so much harder to bear when you're ready to buy the product.

Once announced i'll see what the deal is and then decide if apple really is for me or do i stick with a new pc?

tough times and tough decisions ahead!! lol
:D

Loss of interest? No. What else would you buy that is comparable? Of course if you went to something else you would regret it when the new iMac does drop.

I have told myself to just be happy with my MBP for now, and when the new iMac comes to market I will be ready.

Same situation, need it for music work but sadly i need the refresh too.
Just coping with my 2010 MBP for now which is fine! the only thing that bugs me is i can't run a server for the games i play on it at the moment but when i get the imac thats sorted!

Some of these reasons for 'needing' the new iMac refresh are getting more dramatic the closer we get to summer. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I can see Apple waiting until August or refresh only once a year.

iMac releases have never been dependent on the OS X update schedule itself. Besides, it's simply absurd to think that Apple would take six months (after the new MBPs) to release its flagship desktop models with SB chips.

The iMac will receive a silent update (no event) mid to late April - there is ZERO doubt about it. And what will be new? The usual suspects:

- SB chips all over;
- improved GPUs;
- TB port;
- higher HD capacities and SSD options;
- 21, 27 and 30 inch models;
- bigger amount of built-in RAM.

Lion will arrive in July/August, independently and well after these new releases.

At this point, no. We are all eager.

For me, the breaking point will be at the end of this month which is when ill have had enough, and regrettably go buy a current iMac.

where are you getting your facts from other than your speculation?

Naturally we will get TB,SB better GPU's HDD's and SSD options but the screen sizes? and the RAM upgrades? ive not read anything other than idle speculation and people trying to forge web page impressions and pass them off as fact when we know they are fake.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

30 inch models? Dont think so mate .. 21,24 and 27 inch models ... I just hope the 27 inch supports 1080p target display mode so I can use kanex xd to play my xbox on my iMac in glorious 1080p full hd.

It's all about hype. The longer they wait there more we spread the rumors - don't misunderstand, rumors are a very good PR thing. A statement like "is apple taking to long" will always go for the consumers as we want the product when we are ready to buy them.

I think Apple have this rumor mile down to an art form.

And YES, of course they are taking to long :)

Update coming with:

SB cpu's
21.5" to 27" screen
69xx series gpu's
Up to 32GB of ram
ThunderBolt port

Can't believe that it's so damn quiet about new imacs. Sure I may be obsessed with the imac release....but anyway!?
So tired of waiting......:(
