I’m fortunate enough to live nearby Apple headquarters in Silicon Valley so I went to pick mine up in person when released, but I’ve also ordered online before. It told me it would show up one date and arrived almost a week before that date. It was literally overnighted from Shanghai somehow and at my doorstep the next morning. No idea how but that’s the tracking info. I’d imagine yours would show up before the date they gave you

Apple HQ new and old (1 Infinite Loop) are within easy driving distance for me. But neither has had stock since before Thanksgiving. I guess I should not have waited more than a few days to decide to buy an M1 system.

Yeah, they’ve been out of stock in person, unfortunately. They sold out of the air locally at all Apple stores pretty fast, but I was after the Pro so it was okay. Those were in stock for a while longer than the air and now they’re out on both models in all local shops. I think a lot of locals forget that Apple HQ has a visitors center that sells products so they tend to be in stock a little longer. I’m sure you’ll get a unit soon either in person or by Mail!

I just checked and if you’re okay with the pro, they have them in stock at Apple hq and visitors center available for pickup today

Thanks. Looking only for the base Air. I figure I will pick up the 14" with the M1xx/M2 chip next year and load it up with memory and drive space. So going cheaper, for now, to try out Apple Silicon.

It really is as good as it sounds. I still find myself not believing the battery life and performance. It just seems too good to be true but it really is true. I know on the pro with basic web surfing, 4K YouTube, etc I’m easily getting north of 20+ hours. You’ll love the base air for sure

That was quick. Went from preparing to shipped in under 1 hour. Should arrive tomorrow. Must be coming from somewhere close.
Hey, does your tracking history show you where it's coming from? I'm waiting on a base mba m1 with a delivery window of Dec 7-14. Shipping to Oregon.
...I was holding it together pretty well until the past two days ? and now I just can't wait for the damn shipping notification

My 16/512 Air arrived 7 days earlier than the earliest projected date. ETA was 24th through 27th and arrived 17th.

I feel the same way. Feel like a 8-year-old waiting on a new bike for Xmas!!

I got a UPS tracking number and Apple says shipping. But the UPS site shows the tracking number as invalid. So of course my mind goes to Apple or someone spoofing my order.....

But as soon as the UPS tracking number works I will post where the package was sent from.

On the Apple website it says they’re going to deliver my MacBook on Thursday and I was super hyped about it. But now I got an email from them and the delivery date is Dec 16th (which is the first day of the delivery window I was given originally). On top of that, UPS shows that there’s a delay and there’ll be an updated delivery date but nothing more. Aaaaargh, don’t know what to trust ???

The UPS tracking information finally showed up. It shows my package coming from Ontario, CA and being delivered to me in SF Bay Area today.

I hope your system ships soon.

See, yours was the same as mine - shipped from So Cal instead of China.

Yep. I assume Apple is just ordering large shipments from China and India and splitting them up once they arrive in the US. I imagine if I ordered something custom it might come directly from the factory to me.

Correct, if you ordered anything other than a base unit, it would originate from China.

If only Apple did the same when I ordered an iPhone 12 Pro the month prior - mine was delayed weeks after launch day even though I paid for it a week in advance. While others got theirs on launch day, mine was a base unit and ended up getting it at the Apple store in Brea, CA on launch weekend.

I got so pi$$ed at Apple, wrote a letter to Tim Cook and expressed my frustration that they would treat a customer who pre-pays ahead of time so poorly while anyone who walked off the street can pick up the same exact phone without waiting...

Right on, hope it gets to you safely! I got charged last night at around 1 am and the status on my account says "preparing for shipping." Trying not to get too excited until I get that shipping confirmation but...oboyoboyoboy

In case anyone might find a time line useful, for a base mba:
Nov 26: ordered
Dec 9: charged & shipped (eta 12/10)
Dec 10: arrived next day air by 6pm
