I've had no reason to upgrade to the 6S or the 7 and I know Apple's trick of releasing an iOS update that slows an iPhone or an iPad down to a c r a w l in order to push people toward getting a new device.

So...

Any iPhone 6 people running iOS 11 yet? Is it safe? Faster? Same speed? Or is it slow?

Well i have iPhone 6S with 2GB of Ram and it's so much slower after i updated to iOS 11.2 unlike iOS 9.3.5. To make matters worst, You'd be annoyed how much it overheats when playing heavy games which is NOT PRESENT on iPhone 7 and above. Maybe because 6S and older iPhones lacks HEVC Encoding or something like that. The most worst problem is you have to deal with battery drain EVEN after having it exchanged.

My experience using the 6S on 11.2.6 is the exact opposite. It works better than 10.3.3(never thought iOS 9 was any good) and never overheats while playing intensive games. I get 7-8 hours on screen on usage when using it normally. The only thing the 7 offered over the 6S was water resistance a better camera and stereo speakers. The performance jump from A9 to A10 was much smaller than the jump from the 6(1gb ram) to the 6S(2gb). If your 6S feels slow, then your 7 should feel similar. The iPhone 6 will definitely feel slower than a 6S or newer phone when on ios11. 1gb of ram can only go so far.

Same here. I have a 6s plus on iOS 11.3 beta and its as smooth or even better than 10.3.3. Safari is much smoother on iOS 11 for me. The only grip I have is the battery is slightly worse than previous iOS

I upgraded my 6 to IOS 11 and it is painfully slow. Starting the camera? Ask your picture object to hold still for at least 5 seconds...

What I don't understand: I checked the CPU speed and it is running at normal speed which would suggest no throttling. Also Geekbench comes out normal. Battery is also not too bad (but of course far from perfect, this is a 3 year old phone). I will try to change the battery this week and see if this makes any difference.

I can understand how for some people ios 11 sucks on iphone 6 and others say that on 6S is running EVER BETTER than ios 10.3.3. I mean ios 11 should slow down every generation even if it can't be noticeble on newer phones.

So is iOS 11 boosting performance or not?

This isn't how it works, it can speed up and slow down various things across various devices. Some things may stay the same on one and be slower/faster on another.

6s has some things faster on iOS 11:

5s they're often slower:

I say wait for iOS 11.3 which will be released after or around 20th March. CPU throttling is turned off in it.

Well did it fix the issue ?

Not true, honesty my 6s on iOS 11 is slightly slower than 10. Booting up is like 5 to 10 seconds longer.

Even though the app closing are fast on all device,

Most people are just Defending their 6s because of 6 reasons:
1. They feel left behind
2. They are PRETENDING to be satisfied with their performance on iOS 11 even though they know themselves that iOS 9 is faster on their 6s vs iOS 11
3. They cannot afford to buy a newer phone like iPhone X
4. They feel like iPhone 6s looks like regular 6 design but faster
5. They already know that their 6s will gonna 4s in iOS 9 LIKE 2 years from know when iOS 13 comes but theyignores it.
6. Just like the 4s most people defends their 4s that will gonna get iOS 10 because many people has still it or they still feel that iOS 9 is usable on their 4s

But in reality 6s will continue to get slower as iOS progress. As an HONEST person i find iOS 11 still fast on 6s but not as fast like it did on iOS 9 or iOS 10 except for app closing, and app closing animation. Never mention the batter tho

Booting up is the least of my worries, I don't care if this takes 30 seconds longer.
But when you launch a 'basic' app like text, camera or call and you have to wait for 5 second or more, the everyday usage is crippled.

Just put in a new battery in my iPhone 6. Geekbench has slightly improved but I feel it does stutter a lot less. First impressions only, will report back in a few days.

As someone running iOS 11 on three phones, 6s, 7, 8+, you are right on the generational thing. 6s is okay, 7 slightly faster, 8+ Is like butter. I am not sure why people expect older devices to run the same after OS upgrades. I never expected it with desktop computers, Windows CE phones, Android phones, etc.

I jumped on the Apple bandwagon with the 4 and never saw a major OS update maintain or improve speeds. An Apple apologist? No, a realist I guess.

Trick? After 3 years, software became more demanding and more powerful. I’m surprised there are still people who believe Apple is intentionally making their phones slower. It’s no trick, it’s how things are. And it still works fine on 6.

And then we found out that's exactly what they did.

Anyone using the iOS 11.3 betas on a 6 and can provide info?
I downloaded iOS 11.3 beta 6 on my iPhone 6 this morning, but so far it has been a noticeable performance improvement thus far. I signed up for the battery replacement program as well. I'd really like to get the iPhone X, but also want to hold out as long as I can. Constant battle trying to figure out if I want to get the current version or wait for the newest, but also not pay full price.

Don’t do it! iOS 11 wasn’t designed for the iPhone most people have.

I installed ios 11 on my GF's iphone 6s. Holy %@#^ the notification system is dumb. In terms of performace my iphone SE is slightly faster than 6s and battery life is a little worse on 6s now.
Not to mention that bold font and the numpad is ugly as hell.

In my opinion iOS 10 is so much better than ios 11, more stable and more performant.
