rounding 3 years with my air 2 and it's still rockin'. still quick for everything i use it for (social media, email, surfing the web). only problem is that there's a small permanent discoloration on one side of the screen, like someone took a highlighter and drew a 1-inch streak.

i ordered the ipad pro 12.9" yesterday because of the sale, and i just really wanted to buy something. i'll still use the air 2, at the very least just to stream tv. definitely not selling it, really don't want to retire it, we've had a great run. made history together.

Never had an iOS device that lasted me as long as the iPad Air 2. Sure, I’d love a newer model, but they still don’t have enough to cause me to actually upgrade and my iPad Air 2 isn’t slow and laggy enough where I feel I need to upgrade.

I think it's safe to say that the Air 2 is the longevity model. The fact that they kept the ram at 2gb in the new 2018 iPad (same as Air 2) means that they just prolonged the life on this thing even further.

i love this game.

i hit the bullseye by buying the ipad 4
...
all 'longevity' models.

I think I'm in the opposite camp when it came to iPads. I bought the iPad 3 a few months before they launched the iPad 4, and the iPad Pro 9.7" a few months before they launched the iPad Pro 10.5". Talk about poor timing .

Nonetheless, the iPad 3 still chugs along as a secondary device for the kids. Each time, I press on the Home button by reflex thinking it'll unlock via TouchID since all my other iDevices are TouchID enabled, and then only realize it is the iPad 3 which is keypad unlock only .

I think next year is when it'll have to be retired due to the switch-over to 64-bit only apps.
