Oh what fun.

Thanks for that brilliant idea :)

Not sure if you're being sarcastic :p.

Anyways, another reassurance is what happened with Lion. Retail had a different version number than the GM release but both were able to update the same.

I was being sarcastic because I thought your reply was tongue-in-cheek, though certainly, that would be a last-resort method of dealing with a bad ML install.

Yea, that excuse can apply to any form of theft to any company! They are rich, they will never mind!

True. They'll never notice my $20, and not thank me for paying it out of the goodness of my heart. The way I see it, you paid $99. Why pay them more?

They remove the tracking from the retail version that they have in Dev GM, so that they can cancel the account of the guy who posted his dev version on bit torrent.

Just remember that if you upgrade now the App store doesn't let you buy it as it thinks you already have it.

Also, if you upgrade and don't buy ML you are not able to reinstall from the recovery partition as you have to input your account details prior to recovery which will then fail due to the fact that you have not bought the upgrade.

If you are a paid developer you don’t have to pay since you get legit access to the GM. I wasn’t talking about that scenario though in hindsight the person I was replying too probably was thinking of something different than what I was.

Technically you paid 99$ to get it, but you've also had DPs since before WWDC.

Huh? I never said anything about WWDC at all. You could be a paid developer at any point and qualify for the GM. I don’t get what you are saying...

Technically you did pay, but you also paid for all the betas and early access.

Well yes, that’s the point of the paid developer program - to get developers access to every version including the final one of the OS. That’s what I already said - by paying $99 you have legit rights to the GM. My original point was not dealing with paid developers - something that may have been a mis interpretation.

I wash never talking about the prior DP’s anyhow since presumably the OP already had legit access to them and no longer needed them. He was talking about the GM.

If you're not a developer, you should wait until you can legally get a copy.

if your part of the Appleseed program, you can have access to it for free and legally as well, which is designed around non-developers and doesn't cost a thing. Its invite only from Apple though.

Since my computer is eligible for the Up-to-Date program (just got a MBA yesterday), I went ahead and installed it. I'll be paying $0.00 so I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

Once the final released, you can always download the installation file from MAS by holding the "Option" key. Correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Please tell me you don't believe in that. If they wanted to prevent all this they could use cd-keys like Windows does. But they don't, we are in full control of what services are being ran, especially with ML.

Installed GM last night, have run into some issues. Would be very grateful if someone could help me out.

Cannot shut down, restart, or log out using the Apple drop down menu. Only way is to hard shut down using the power button.

Wifi will not connect after waking up from sleep. Basically, if I, by habit, close the lid and put my MBP to sleep, I cannot connect to wifi when I wake it back up and am forced to shut down using power button and reboot.

I'm running ML GM on my mid-2009 MBP.

Thanks very any help!
