Some really good posts in this thread. I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but if anyone is thinking about moving from the Apple MacBook Pro to a Windows laptop I strongly suggest one should look at Dell Precision mobile workstations and HP ZBook mobile workstations. Pretend no other Windows laptops exist.
The workstations will have the most stable drivers, will have been stress tested for hundreds of hours before release, will come with the best hardware, and will have the best support in the industry: yes, better than Apple by a mile. Buying a consumer laptop / gaming laptop is just a path to frustration, imo. Oh, workstations aren't 12lbs bricks anymore; or at least not all of them.
