Im thinking to buy a MBpro 2022 but one of the things that kinda puts me into thoughts of not making the purchase is the Notch thats implemented differently than the new macBookAir 2022 model. Seeing a diff design for the Notch, i get the impression of a design inconsistency and cant figure out why is this happening! Boy is Apple putting us through a design mixup or not and for what reason? :(

Sorry, I have no idea what you're referring to. Have you got pictures or something?

The notch implementation is exactly the same across all models with the notch. The only difference is that the bezel is thicker on the M2 Air resulting in a 13" screen instead of a 14" one. I don't know what you're talking about.

Even if you were to find a difference, how often are you going to be putting your laptop next to an M2 air to stare at the notches together? Trust me, you don't notice the notch whatsoever after about 2 minutes using it anyways.

Why didnt the new MBpro 13" come out with a Notch? Shouldn’t it align with the rest new laptops?

The 13" MBP isn't a "new" laptop, its an existing model that was refreshed with the M2. It has none of the new features, like function keys, ports and mag safe.

This is why, most reviewers and people generally recommend that you either buy the M2 MBA, or the 14" MBP.

Are those three features the only new ones that the new laptops have?

I guess the 16" is included along with those two?

Heavens no.

From AppleInsider

In a nut shell, The base 14" MBP costs 2,000 dollars (USD), comes with 16GB of ram, and 512GB storage. Similarly equipped 13" MBP will run you 1,700 dollar. For 300 dollars you get the following: Better keyboard, faster GPU, CPU, larger and better mini LED display with promotion, more ports, ram and storage options.

16" is a different beast in one sense, but the spec sheet is the same as the 14", you just spend more money to get a larger laptop. For many people that's important, but for others it isn. Cooling in the 16" is better given the increase area to evacuate the heat.

Why would someone want a 16” laptop? What would he do with it?

Work and leisure. I bought the 16" instead of the 14" because I wanted the larger screen for more work space and watching videos, better speakers, better cooling, and better battery life.

To your original point. I don't see a design mixup, I see apple moving to a new design language while still selling the older style. Eventually the M1 13" MacBooks will go away.

Why aren't you just visiting an Apple Store to get your questions sorted out? There are also numerous YouTube videos to watch to see the differences.

Because a 16" MBP has a larger display thats resolution is capable to see 2 separate document side by side compared to the 14" MBP. Its also designed for higher performance then the 14" MBP with larger fans and heat pipes. The batteries are also higher capacity.

For me, the notch is a non-issue. Coming from a 13" MBP, the 14 fits how I do my work. I use an external monitor most of the time, but appreciate the portability when necessary.

Isn't it obvious? Everyone has a different use case! And due to thinner bezels, there's only a marginal outer size difference to the 15" MBPs of the past.
Could you please give me examples of use cases?

Also I idn’t understand the thinner bezels comment 😳 you stated!

Why do you say so? It is bigger!
It's a laptop not a boat anchor, but this is subjective and you might find it too big for you. Go to a store and look at them yourself.

I will say that if I had offices where I used external displays, if I used public transit a lot, if I regularly travelled by plane, or if I were a student with it in a backpack full of other things I probably would have chosen a smaller and/or lighter MacBook.
