there will probably be a lot of people.... not to buy.... but to try out! to just sit there and try to see it... i think that's what the majority of people are going to do, go into the store, and spend the whole day there on one freaking iphone; like they do with the freaking mac you wanna seee.... it's gonna be soooo annoying, i hope they have some-type of system to determine who is looking at it to buy it, and looking to look at it and take the place of people who are going to buy it...

I agree. It would be cool if they have a line set up for those who want to buy immediately sight-unseen. That would move a lot of people through in my estimation. I don't need to see it, touch it, or whatever. I just want to get in and get out.

Apple and AT&T are you listening??? Please give those of us who know what we want an express line please. :)

I agree, I don't care about trying it before I buy it, I just want in and out.

Revolutionary thinking, I love it.

Just out of curiousity for people who have had experience with the Tiger launch at 6pm (or any other launch at 6pm for that matter)

How strict are places with the 6pm date. Is it pretty rare to find anyone selling it early or is it easy?

The last thing I want is to get there at 4:30 to wait in line to find out that they went on sale at 12pm and are sold out, or something to that effect.

LoL, there's gonna be lines just to be able to walk past it, make the sign of the cross, and touch the display case, just like when they put out the shroud of Turin or something, LoL.

Of course, this is the first time that Apple doesn't have complete control over on of their releases, but with a typical Apple release, the dates and times are strictly enforced. ...I'm not expecting this release to be any different.

You can bet your house that there will be madness! This puppy is gonna sell out so quickly, and stay sold out for at least a month. Get ready for another Wii/PS3 fiasco.

It's kind of like when you see a hot chick, but then you find out she has a kid and a brother who is in jail and a crazy ex-boyfriend. All significant baggage but the chick is still hot enough to bang. :p

I can't think of a better analogy! Perfect way to describe it! :D

Difference is, when it sells out. You will be able to order it online, and just wait for it to be made. Not like the Wii or PS3 when you had to find a store that was getting a shipment, you also needed to know the time and get there 2 days early.

Apple will ship them directly from the factory every week until supplies start to build up.

It is also a little incongruous to compare the Wii/PS3 launches with the iPhone because those consoles were in development up until launch. The iPhone has had to be hardware-complete to get FCC approval and thus production could have started months ago. Either Apple held off on packaging them up so that they could be updated prior to be boxed, or they expect you to update the software the first time you plug it into iTunes.

Regardless, Apple could very well have stockpiles of these things.

From what I heard, Apple was still making tweaks up to about a month ago. Even with a month's worth of manufacturing, I feel like they will be in short supply for quite a while.

Are you sure?

Haha I was there, I can pretty much see my umbrella in that picture.

I don't think so, not really. They REQUIRE a contract, it's not like ebay scalpers can go any buy them out and try to turn a huge profit.

I think the whole darn thing is pretty "meh" personally. Yeah, it has a "cool" factor, but seriously, you want to pay 6 bones for a phone, one that holds as much music as a 249 nano? I'll keep my Blackberry Pearl, and when I want music I'll whip out my 30gb iPod, thank you. I'll still be ahead of the game in terms of $$ for hardware and $$ for voice/data (tmobile's unlimited Blackberry data plan is a whopping 19.95/mo)

Yeah, and if you only had a Sony Mylo, you could strap them all to your Bat Belt and be just as cool. ;)

I just made the same observation in another thread that lilNYC just did. My feelings are slowly changing but I think I will still get it.

ROTFL @ your "hot chick" analogy. Good stuff!! :D
