The Apple stores in my area just seem to employ corporate-loving dweebs who don't actually have much of a clue about technology. But saying that, all of the tech stores in my area do this.

It can't be easy dealing with customers who bring in their apple products with major components completely missing and then expect the Genius to swap it out for a fully working product.

Seriously, that was one conversation I overheard at Apple last week. I couldn't help but wonder what the customer had done with the missing parts? Sold them on eBay? :)

Yes, Apple is just like Best Buy....in a sense that you have good stores and crappy stores. Just b/c you go to one store and the service is terrible....doesn't mean that every store is like that. There's a Verizon corporate store that's about 20mins from me. Great store. But there's another one that I went to, that's on the other side of Houston (I just so happen to be on that side of town for something) and the service was terrible. Now does that one bad store mean all Verizon stores and employees are terrible? Of course not

Hey us Best Buy folks aren't all bad, in fact I feel we are better than we ever have been. As for Apple, I agree a little that their customer service is less ideal than it used to be. You should come into either of my 2 BB stores (the one I work and the one I shop at) and you'll change your mind about Best Buy... guaranteed. ;)
