You are kidding, right? Admittedly, smartphones have struggled with screen breakages in the past but the last few years have seen massive improvements. It used to be common to see people with broken screens on phones but I've not seen anyone with a broken phone screen for probably four years now. Not just talking about iPhones but any smartphones.

Get out more, I’ve seen a few just this week lol

Yeah I’m just not buying it

I’ve had some HARD hits on sapphire watches and never seen a scratch, I’ve dropped iPhone under 12” into soft surfaces and had them crack

“Gorilla glass” needs to be named “eggshell glass”

Sapphire glass on watches is thicker than needed on a phone screen and much smaller so the chances of them flexing is much less. A harder surface to resist scratches makes sense on a watch as they are less likely to experience heavy impacts. Phones are dropped way more often so need a glass that can absorb drops better. Also a screen now can cost £350 to replace, imagine how much a sapphire crystal panel would cost and how much more expensive it would make an iPhone to buy. You’d be talking up to £1800 for the device when most people will simply put a screen protector on them anyway for a fraction of the cost. Sapphire provides very very little benefits anyway.

My FO has one, saw one at the bar a couple days ago

That’s two, and I’m not exactly looking

So you’ve seen lots of broken screens but want a weaker sapphire panel to be standard on the iPhone? I can’t see any logic to that whatsoever.
