I got my 3gs on launch day and my fiancee got her 3gs about 45 days ago. Both are perfect as well.

+1 for Aggie too!

My contract is up in January, but I can wait till June to get the next iPhone as the 3GS is nice, but not much of an upgrade over the 3G.

All I know is that I want a 32GB model.

OP: If you want to get an iPhone, buy one now. The contract is only 12 months, so supply of the next model should be fine this time next year after release, most likely a software/firmware update so you'll have a smooth transition.

Plus, it'll only be 3/4 months after release till the end of your contract. In fact, I'm amazed you haven't got yourself an iPhone already

The 12 month contract is a recent promotion (you can choose between half mothly cost and 36 months contract or 12 months and full cost per month), that's actually the only reason I'm considering it bc I don't want to be locked in a 2 or even 3-year contract.

Since there is no update expected till June the only thing that makes me hesitate is the 1GB data/month. How much do you get in America with AT&T?

Buy one now. It's still worth it. Buy it now, then sell it for the new model when it comes out next year.

EDIT: OFFTRACK NOTE- Anybody noticed that The Spaz is no longer a demi-God? He's now a 601, which means that he has no longer signed up for the yearly stuff.

Buy it now. I just bought mine last week monday and it's amazing compared to the regular iphone 3G. I had a unlocked iphone 3G for Tmobile and it was slow at times especially on edge. Wifi was ok. Whenever I opened up apps, it would be slow, I opened text message for iphone, slow. Iphone 3GS=significantly fast where I don't have to wait like 5+ seconds for my native text message app to open. Battery lasts a lot longer than my previous iphone 3G. So far I've gone 3 days without charging it and I used it for text & calls a few times, email, 3G (now I use the AT&T free wifi for iphone at starbucks) at starbucks for email, to look up something for my homework, and wifi when i'm at home to quickly check email when i'm not near my computer. Possibilities are fantastic with the 3GS. I get work done a lot faster with this iphone compared to my previous iphone. Mobileme uploads are quick!

I hope its still worth it, mine is currently on its way!

...I'm too excited for words ;)

Well, you guys convinced me - just ordered it online. Can't wait to finally get it :D
I found a buyer for my old ipod touch 1g (selling it for 70€), so that's ok too.

Thanks for your help guys!

This could be a little too late, but I'd go for the 32Gb if you plan to "sell and upgrade" when the next iPhone or next-next one comes out.

I managed to sell my first 3G which had 16Gb pretty quickly. No one wanted the 8Gb...

And with such similar question: should I buy this computer, this camera, etc.
The answer is simple: can you be bothered to wait? Every few months, new technology comes out.

Be sure to buy some "armour" for it....I mean casing.

I am going to get a 3GS later this week. At the moment I have a 2g, which is getting too small, and too slow. The 3GS will do what I need it to, and when the next generation is released, I can always upgrade to that after a few months, as long as AT&T doesn't change their upgrade policy.

What's your point? Demi-god means nothing more than "remove ads".

TheSpaz. He might not have a point. He was just taking note of your status. You often post your random thoughts here on the message board which many consider blog entries. So I find it surprising you would ask 'what's your point'. Maybe you get what I'm saying here? Are you with me?

I'm with you. And your demi status can be "demi", "contributor", or the standard status given to every other member here depending upon post count.

I just don't understand why it was brought up. That's like saying, "Hey, has anyone noticed that Samcraig is a 65816?"

I was only a Demi-god because I donated to get rid of ads. It meant nothing more than that.

Also, I'd wait for the next iPhone if I were you. I'm waiting for a design refresh before I get one. I want Apple to sort out the manufacturing flaws that plague the iPhone 3G and 3GS. Specifically the cracks, misaligned bezels, dust under glass and light leaks. On another note, they should switch to OLED screens.
I have none of the above on my 3G. There are four other iPhones in the immediate family and they have none of the above too.

Where should it be brought up? In a new thread all its own? That would be more inappropriate. The poster submitted his reply AND made note of something he's noticed. It's not like they JUST posted the fact.

That's great for you man, but after returning my iPhone 3G 4 times and my iPhone 3GS 3 times, I've lost faith in Apple's build quality for iPhones.

At least my 4th iPhone 3G was perfect when I got it.

I bought two iPhones, one 3GS for me and a $99 3G for my wife who carries a company Blackberry 8830. She now carries both and prefers the 3G!

Both came to us in perfect condition. They work perfectly for us and we always have solid 3G network where ever we go.

I came from a BB 8830 myself with Sprint and I love the difference I get locally in service and 3G. ATT has been very nice to us so far.

My only wonder is that I wanted to buy phone ins and they said they are not allowed to sell it with the iPhone and hat Apple is primary. ? They dont want more of my money?

Ah, so that's why they let you stick around after all your excessive babbling. Makes sense now. Give money, act like a douche, get special privileges. Give no money, act like a douche, get suspended/banned.

Got it! ;)

I don't get special privileges at all! I was temp banned a few times during my Demi-god days. I did not expect extra rights and I wasn't given any. I only did it to get rid of the ads. I didn't even know (at the time) that my status would change after donating.

Believe me, I've gotten in trouble.

I'm just saying. Anything wrong with just mentioning it or would you want a "The fake spaz" blog with a wall for updates? I was just pointing out my view apart from replying to the OP.
