Started to have problems with my MM1 so I bought a MM 2. In my opinion, there was absolutely no difference other than charging.

If anything it's less convenient for me. With the MM 1 I used to get notifications that the mouse battery was low. I just ignored it because I was working. When the MM 1 dies, I just replaced the batteries and keep going. If the MM 2 if it dies, I have to plug it in and wait. Or use a spare mouse until it is charged.

I had problems with lagg and stuttering, which was helped by moving the receiver closer to the mouse. The range of the receiver (unifying) is short! I can not use Bluetooth due to interference with my headset.
Fantastic Mouse but very short wireless range 30 cm is ok 60 cm was not.

I have completely given up on using a mouse.

Trackpad only for me since 2010 or whenever the "Magic" Trackpad was introduced.
I hope you are not using it for long hours a day as otherwise you will develop RSI. Trackpad is very bad for ergonomics too.
Either vertical mouse or wacom tablet. Either of those have far better ergonomics than mouse or trackpad

** DELETED .SOMEBODY COMPLAIN ABOUT NON NATIVE SPEAKER REPLY.
Non native reply or non english? I don't remember what you had there so not sure if you were talking in another language or your english had mistakes. The first one is understandable the second one is not acceptable as another person mentioned.

;) Just leave it and continue with the topic

I fail to understand why folks are griping abut the location of the charging port. It takes 2 minutes to give it a 9hr charge. Plug it an and go to the bathroom. Done.

I’ve been contemplating the magic trackpad or a Logitech BT mouse. The only thing giving me pause on the Logitech is I currently have a Logitech marathon mouse and it doesn’t scroll smoothly without the help of a third party app (SmoothScroll). The unifying receiver on my MBP is also a pain in the USB C era.

Curious on what experience other people have had?

To the thread starter, the ergonomics of the MM2 is a deal breaker for me.

my cheepo 15 dollar work fine . For mac i suggest logitech with vertical scrolling. In windows you didn't much vertical scrolling.Magic mouse kinda good on vertical scrolling.

I love it. Having a swipe surface at your fingertips is amazing: one finger swipes to delete emails, two finger swipes to switch between workspaces. Much prefer it to a static trackpad.

Charging is a non issue. No more than remembering to having to plug in the AirPod case once in a while. And it doesn't have the disconnection issues gen 1 had (usually due to loose batteries).

Or, get a Logitech, plug in the charge cable sensibly positioned where the wire on a non-wireless mouse used to go, and keep right on working while it gets a full charge then completely forget about charging for a couple of weeks. If you want to go and have a call of nature for a few minutes while it gets a day's top-up - rather than suffer the privation of using a wire for an hour - you can do that too. Choice is good.

(Plus, I can have my Logitech simultaneously paired with my iMac, MBP and PC, and switch between them at the press of a button, and have the choice of Bluetooth or logitech's universal dongle, which is faster to connect and more responsive than BT).

Its not that the Magic Mouse's charging arrangements somehow make it unusable - its that you shouldn't have to accept second best on a $100 mouse from a company that likes to make $300 coffee-table vanity books about its wonderful design. What the MM2 lying on its back to be charged says is that "Every expense was spared on re-designing the MM1 to be rechargeable - if we'd moved the charge port to a sensible position we might have had to re-tool the top case..."

Apple used to combine minimalistic good looks with attention to detail - recently they've been scoring 1 out of 2 on that.

The ergonomics of the MM2 make my wrist hurt just thinking about them. I still remember the hand cramps I got when I tried to use the MM2 for 4 hrs+ at a time.

Really, if you're a Mac user and you're serious about a mouse, you should go one of three ways:

Professional / Everyday use:

Logitech MX Master 2S

https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/mx-master-2s-flow (but get it somewhere else for cheaper)

MMO Gaming:

Razer Naga Trinity

https://www.razer.com/gaming-mice/razer-naga-trinity (but again, get it somewhere else for cheaper)

Compact Laptop Companion:

Microsoft Mobile Wireless

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/micros...V0wOGCh3GkAf2EAQYAyABEgKS8_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I use all three of these mice, and they all work great on macOS. The Trinity has some finicky issues with Razer Synapse, but it's the only MMO mouse on the market that has macOS drivers. A must-have for World of Warcraft or any other MMO really.

I actually really like the Magic Mouse. Ergonomically I find it rather comfortable and its always served me well.

I had the MM1 and then replaced it with the MM2.
I found the MM2 slightly lighter, although maybe that's just me, but other then the battery design there is nothing different.
The battery in my MM2 lasts me many months. If I get caught out with no battery remaining a few mins charge gives quite a bit of further use. While the charging port design isn't the best, by far, it hasn't really hindered my use of the mouse at all.

The MM is one of those 'love it or hate it' type devices.....

I have a very old wired Apple mouse with the little ball in the center that scrolls, but it doesn't work anymore and I'm considering getting a replacement but not sure if I should get the Magic Mouse 2.

I have the original Magic Mouse that uses double AA batteries, and I know the new one is rechargeable. Besides that are there any major differences between the 2?
[doublepost=1549848413][/doublepost]just bought replace mm2 for my year old mm2 80 some bucks from apple...same as the year old mm2 i replaced ..and some of it is on my old fat hands....anyway 84 bucks or whatever it was....charge every 5 or so weeks over night...usually charges up in 3 or 4 hours...have to be conscious of positioning -fingers palm etc like I said fat hands.
