Both Leopard and Snow Leopard. I've encountered several such PDFs, but don't recall which ones they are, off-hand. I'll let you know next time I encounter one, if I can remember to do so.

No worries, I was using Skim as my default for a while. Maybe it handles those forms better than Preview and it has been a fluke that I haven't encountered one with Preview.

You see a lot of warnings suggesting issues but I never seem to have a problem. Maybe I am not picky about distortions in PDFs.

EDIT: Both did not work correctly with one of the links in that thread. First time I have encountered that issue. I use a lot of PDFs too?

However, there are some instances where Preview will distort page layout or will not allow the user to fill in a form, where Adobe Reader will. I use Preview 95% of the time and Reader 5%.

Curious - have you seen the same CPU problem with Adobe Reader? I normally am fine with Adobe (unlike the many people afraid to install Flash), but this is just plain stupid having a process run away, and apparently the Adobe Resource Synchronizer has been a problem for years when I started to look for it. Anyone with Acrobat Pro can be hit with the same problem too it seems.

Note - have ran into those PDFs, but so far not bothered with installing Adobe Reader, and just used Preview for the non corrupted ones.

2. But, in the other hand, Mac is somehow not multi-task like Window, just running uTorrent or Jdownloader, Skype and that's it! You should stop do anything else while using these programs.

One more thing, Windows can run a lot of programs and it's more adaptive than Mac. There are fewer apps in Mac and you have to find one that fit your needs.

What I want to mention here is Firefox 4 for Mac is ultra slow! Since Firefox upgraded to 4.x, I have to switch to Chrome (which is incredibly fast!)

Really? I often run up to 25 applications at once on Mac OS X and have hardly a problem with it, unless I run out of RAM.
With Windows, even with enough RAM, I rarely am able to run more than five applications, but that may have changed since Windows 6.1.

And quantity ≠ quality. I often find that the applications written for Mac OS X are far better than similar applications for Windows. But that is my experience. Yours seems to differ, but if you only experienced Firefox, I can understand. It is a mildy ****ed up application.
One tab open and it consumes 186MB RAM. Safari with eight tabs open only consumes 375MB RAM. Maybe I should watch more porn.

My macbook air 11.6 is running really slow. Its painful actually. I'm talking minutes to load each page.

Being a new mac convert, I only know that if this was a pc I would be running my anti virus, spyware and adware software and doing a config, but I have no idea what the equivalent is on the mac.

Don't know if its a coincidence but I did an online survey just before the problem started and have been getting pop ups which I never had before.

This is driving me crazy so if anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Can't help with your current situation, but if you feel you need it, Sophos offers free MacOS antivirus:

http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-antivirus-for-mac-home-edition.aspx

Realistically, I don't even need it on there, but it doesn't slow my machine down, so whatever, -I run it.

Sophos is not recommended, as it can actually increase your Mac's vulnerability. Read the link I posted in post#11.

Just to update - I have started using chrome, and I changed some settings on my router advised on another forum and there is a great improvement. I am beginning to wonder if some of the problem is my broadband connection. Thanks for all the help and suggestions, hence the improvement.
