Was glad to read on PhoneArena that the Note 10 dispensed with that awful Bixby button in favor of using power button.

Q gestures or swipe actions are similar to iOS - still has a few beta releases until done. More control over permission an app has access to such as only when in use.

Why though?

Honestly, I'm looking at the new Galaxy S10 series phones, and the leaks regarding the upcoming Note 10, and I feel like the S9 and Note 9 are much better. I feel like Samsung ruined/removed many things.
Why? For a ~$1k gadget:
1. No OS upgrades after ~2 years.
2. No security updates after ~3 years.
3. Resale value in the open market drops significantly even after 1 year.

Samsung provides trade in promo every time they release new phones for a reason. It would be foolish not to take advantage of it.

Updates, meh. All major o/s updates have either slowed my devices, worsened the battery life, used more RAM, introduced a nasty bug, or all four.
I'll do the monthly security updates until the next big o/s 'update' and then that's it until I buy another phone. Updates, schmupdates.

Not a chance! It has Oreo and wil stay that way.
I updated my Huawei M5 to Pie and as usual performance has suffered. There is a standby battery drain, it uses more RAM and the new app drawer is lousy. I'm actually going to 'downgrade' to Oreo when I find the time. I'll never, ever EVER do an o/s update again. Security updates sure but not a major o/s upgrade. Nah.

Ooh so you’re missing out on one UI!

Yeah but I'm not missing out on standby battery drain and increased RAM usage. Any update that causes worse battery life, worse RAM management/increased RAM usage or slows my phone down is garbage to me. Whatever UI changes they do make no odds to me. o_O

Late to this thread, but I would highly recommend the note 9 for someone on a budget who wants to keep a phone for a while.

I have owned every single note since the note 2, and 9. They are always the standard bearer phone, and even a year or 2 on are generally chugging along.

I actually kept my note 8 for more then a year(which is a long time for me), and actually regretted getting rid of it. That led me a on a journey of switching phones 4 times this year, and now I am heading back to note 10+ which I fully intend to keep a whole year.

What would you recommend between the note 9 and the S10 plus.

I’m not keen on the colours of the note 10 + available in the UK and I want a headphone jack and compatibility with gear vR so the note 10 is out.

Do you want the pen?
Do you want a wide angle camera?
Do you mind a hole punch?

Answer those three and you'll know!

Everything else is minor between them.

For iPhone users, updates are important.
For Android users, updates are not important.

This to the highest power!!!

S10 + easily. No bezels, reverse wireless charging, FPS on front, better supported. This is my opinion, if I were choosing between the two.

Good observation, yet the new features worth that much more money? Device manufacturer always say next generation is always the best ever. I am holding on to my N9. Just my opinion.

As was said by the other poster, the s10+ does add some nice features, and is more compact then the note 9. The one feature that 2019 Samsung's have is the best wide angle camera in the industry.

However that doesn't detract from how great the note 9 is. It still holds it's own, and TBH besides the smaller bezels it is mostly the same experience as a s10+.

If your budget allows for it the s10 is a damn nice phone, but note 9 is perfectly fine, and you will be very happy with it.

Pretty much everyone crowned it phone of the year for 2018, and while it isn't flashy, at the end of the day it has the best spread of features of any phone on sale.
