I highly doubt they can guarantee no burn in especially this issue is common found in OLED tv
Since that is absolutely true, there’s no point of even thinking about it with all the static, images and fonts that you usually keep on your screen. It just a no-win situation at this time. What we have now is great no issues. I can almost bet after the first OLED screens come out for iPads. There will be many complaints following.

It depends on your usage. I upgrade my iPads every cycle, so it might not be an issue. But for those that keep them for 3 or 4 years, it could be a problem.

It's a new tech designed to address burnin. Of course the technology does not exist on the market to evaluate in any products, but that is the idea.

If one has the fear of potential burn in, get Apple care. Problem solved. Remember for iPads you can get apple care indefinitely after its two years are done going month to month.

Having OLED on my iPhone wasn’t a deal breaker so it certainly isn’t on an iPad. I remember when the iPhone X launched with OLED and all the snobs on here were making out it was life changing. The first iPhone I had with OLED was the iPhone 12 and I realised how little difference I noticed. I had an iPhone 11 as a works phone alongside it and the difference was minimal.

I can happily spend the next 3 or 4 years using an iPad without it to be perfectly honest.

Should have been a poll so we can see the summary quickly.

OLED is a deal breaker for me, but then so is temporal dithering and whatever they seem to be using on the newer iPads. I feel like the edges of letters are constantly moving. Only the 9th gen iPad looks ok to me.

I do all my photo editing & video editing on an M1 IPad Pro, to say I’m excited about the new one coming out is an understatement. OLED is going to look great for editing I think.

just wondering whether do u really need a OLED ipad for basic usage like surfing internet, watch videos and youtube.
or should i just get the M2 ipad pro?
Since no one here will answer your question honestly, I will…lol. OLED is exceptionally great when viewing videos/movies/shows with a dark setting. With that said, unless both sizes receive OLED, then the 12.9 is your best friend in these instances. House of Dragons ep7 on HBO and some scenes in Apple TV+ original show ‘Invasion’ are all but unwatchable on an LCD screen due to the backlight. I was forced off of my M1 iPad 11 onto my OLED tv in order to see anything. It was that bad (no hyperbole). But outside of those specific instances the LCD screens pretty much do the job.

I’m still using & loving my 2018 iPad Pro! I want to upgrade, but will wait for the OLED m3 iPP. At this point, the M2 is already a significant upgrade. But 6 months or so is not much longer to wait. I use my iPad Pro for everything from content creation to media consumption, so a much faster chip plus an OLED screen would be most welcome and would last me for many many years to come.

It might only be three months.

I have a 12.9, but if the 11 matches the specs of the new 13 or whatever it is (i.e., same screen tech), I'd rather have the smaller one.

Me too. I have the 11” iPad Pro, and one of the reasons I never upgraded it is Apple stopped giving it the same screen as the 12.9”. If the 11” iPad Pro gets an OLED screen, I will definitely upgrade.

Not a dealbreaker but it doesn't make me excited either. Would have preferred if they iterated on Mini LED rather than having organic components that deteriorate.

Still, it’s good that they’re moving display tech forward with the 11”. Personally I’m kinda used to the bigger one now, so not sure I’ll return.

I need OLED for reading stuff on my iPad. When reading a PDF in nightmode, the backlight makes the font lose contrast, which really bugs me.

What are people saying who have OLED phones? Not an issue for me, I have the M2 iPP and wouldn’t be upgrading…

Apple is giving us a choice and will be outing a 12.9 iPad Air which will be a good alternative to the more expensive OLED iPad Pro! I am very happy with my 12.9 M2 iPad Pro and will be holding onto it for another year at least.

I would love oled on the iPad 11” I can't justify buying the current model with LCD if rumors are right about an OLED 11' I’m waiting for the new models regardless, might be more features than display tech like a landscape camera 🙏.
