Wow. Why the change of heart? What factors are you considering?
just thinking size wise really if I want something more portable. more down to the fact the first ten MK won't work with the new 12.9 as I don't want to buy the new mk. so if I get the 12.9 it would be used with just the Smart Cover.

keep going back and forth really but I do enjoy the 12.9 pro. I use it with a Smart Cover now and it works fine but dunno.

if I get the 12.9 I will not get the new Mac. the m1 air works well currently so really it's not something I need but more a case of want.

is the new 12.9 heavier? Im just afraid its going to be like the new 12 Pro Max, that are great but super heavy to carry all over the place... much prefer the 12 pro for example

no dont think so, its still a pandemic, people are not traveling as much, using their extra $ on things just like this!
You have to consider Apples dominance in production and shipping chain though.

For instance, Apple sells roughly 50 million tablets a year, the bulk of those are regular iPads, not Pros or even Airs.

The components that go into a regular iPad are still made by the same factories as those components that go into the Pros, or the Airs, etc.

Apple has had no problem delivering enough iPads up until this point, and that includes all of last year when the world was on lockdown.

Same for iPhones, they've been easy to get.

Apple buys so much freight time, they monopolize the market, in fact a great deal of why people can't buy a PS5, or get their new RTX 3080 is ONLY because Apple has cornered the market on production and shipment for the things they make. They've done this by tossing around many billions of dollars.

There may be delayed delivery times on the new iPad Pros, but it'll be because Apple didn't estimate demand enough, not because there's a shortage of parts for them. Apple is the reason everyone else has a shortage of parts.

Unless you are in hurry I'd wait for WWDC or at least for the Youtube reviews and comparisons.
Could always cancel the pre-order if you find stock in-store.
That's 100% true though. But personally I'll take it easy and wait.

Does anyone know what time on the 30th they go on sale pacific time?
There's this thread here.

But from the looks of it.. 5am pacific.

I'm guessing you are looking at the size aspect of it... but both 12.9" and 11" comes with the M1 chip.

I’m thinking not. The brightness will probably be apparent in hdr content. I never view much hdr content to start with on an iPad. Waiting for oled air as I’d rather step down from the 12.9 anyways.

that's disappointing.. not sure why with apple, why everything keeps getting heavier and heavier!

They beefed up the battery from 30-something Wh to 40 Wh.

With that said, I seem to recall the iPhone 12 series being lighter than 11. Worse battery life though, iirc.

Yeah good point it’s suppose to be heavier to an already heavy iPad for using it without a keyboard

Yeah it’s more wanting the mini led display and I like the bigger display it’s just if I want an even heavier device for something I won’t use with a keyboard

But I been thinking… what if you order the new 12.9” iPP and your able to dock the MK with no issue, however closing seems a bit off. Meaning, you can close it… but it’s not as uniform as it should be. Would that cause you to return the 12.9” in favor of the 11”.

Because, I think that’s where the incompatible issue arise…. That users are able to dock the MK, but closing might be an annoyance. I’ve never really had a MK… but perhaps.. having a sleeve for the iPad Pro and MK could help the closing issue.

Good point, I think that’s where the issues will be. If that is the case that’s not a problem as I could just remove it and put it in the Smart Cover

guess we will see when we get some hands on reviews.

The sales pricing is not a function of supply and demand but about standard marketing practices. The pandemic has been going on for over a year and in spite of supply shortages of electionics, laptops and chromebooks in particular, Best Buy has continued to have aggressive weekly discount/sales.

I don't recall seeing the 2020 iPad Pro going on any deep discounts. I've been the lookout for 1TB Cellular and more often than not, that was either MSRP or simply out of stock.
