Well my S9 is also smooth and it's a year old. So I'm willing to bet the s10 holds up well. People need to move on and realise Samsung has improved thier software to the point that it's one of the best skins available for Android.
Indeed, just like the narrow minded think android lags when it doesn’t. It’s basically as quick at doing everyday tasks as the iPhone is. Speed wise and performance wise the S10’s plus is as good as my max. The days of android being behind in this area is gone. No phone is perfect but you won’t find android lagging any more than IOS. Which is impressive given how much more you can do on them in terms of your home screen where widgets you would think could slow down the device when it runs no worse than the iPhone that displays only apps.

Ah the ol "you can't judge something unless you outdo it" just like in music, cooking, movies, art, and now phones. Cute, but not biting :)

I don't know if that's what he was getting at, but you were the one that touted yourself as a software developer.

What you said is the equivalent of saying, Tom Brady sucks at QB, I know because I play football. For that statement not to be ridiculous, you better be in the NFL at the very least.

What iOS does is prioritises animations over speed, Android does the opposite. People mistake it for lag but is just a different feel. Honestly in 2019 all phones run fast and smooth, there is less and less differentiation between phones each year. It's just a matter of preference at this point.

But to be honest here...you brought up that you are a software dev....insinuating that meant you were more qualified to pass judgement on Samsung software.....
I think asking what you have developed then would be a logical question.
Lol.. if you mean Samsung is one of the top players in terms of software then, as a software developer myself, I offer your opinion a firm lmao, and thanks for coming out

Rubbish, nobody actually believes a word you are saying, but please carry on i like seeing people make fools of themselves, great morning entertainment.
Yeah because walking into a store is super difficult to believe. Plug your ears as much as you want - you lot seem to be good at that anyway when people call these phones out for being the unoptimized rubbish that they are

The only person saying that is you, every single review talks about the S10 being super smooth and fast. Not to mention the speed tests showing the S10 beat down the iPhone Xs maxx ;) Like i said please be carry on, i need a good laugh.

It is a fast phone, no doubt there. But it is not smooth at all, and the gestures just aren't quite there. Many frame drops, and touch response is notably slower than on iPhone. EverythingApplePro (cringey name but whatever) gave the S10 an honest try for a week and just couldn't stay with it for those same reasons. It's tempting to say he's biased but he's one of the more level-headed reviewers I know, and criticizes Apple all the time, revealing all the software mistakes they make.

The SE was legitimately a smoother phone. Not faster at all, but smoother for sure.

Loading times aren't always great on my XS Max and I'm not gonna pretend that it loads apps any faster than an S10, but it is the smoothest phone I've used since the iPhone 5 on iOS 6.

Anyway to answer the OP: yes. Yes it is. I played with an S10 in a store and it was hilarious. The iPhone SE next to it was way smoother.

As a software developer, shouldn't you know that store models typically have demo software which can lead to lag.

Anyway, you're saying there's lag and yet all the professional reviewers talk about how smooth the phone is and how great performance is.

Gotta say, you seem to have a pretty clear agenda here and that's to trash Samsung.

No frame drops here, and i'm super sensitive that that stuff. Apples animations look nice and all but they sacrifice speed, a big no thank you from me. I much prefer Androids approach of prioritizing speed over slow yet pretty animations.

Lol nice, anyone who disagrees with your opinion has an agenda. Kk sick

And no, I don't buy that argument for a second. The iPhone gets messed around with arguably more than the S10 does in the store, and it's always completely smooth. you do realize you basically just said "yeah but people, like, used the s10 so that's why it's slower" thanks anyway bud

100% agree, if Apple gave us control over animation speed that'd be amazing

What the hell are you talking about?

I said that almost all floor models have software other than what they ship with installed which can cause lag so store models are a bad judge of phones performance. That goes for all phones, not just one manufacturer.

You basically come in here and said, "Im a software developer so I know that Samsung phones lag and one time I tried a floor model for a few minutes which confirmed I'm right". You have to realize how weak of an argument that is. You have no experience with the phone in question but you are leveraging judgement that contradicts what almost every reviewer says. And these are people that use almost every phone that's released and have the personal experience to compare them.

So throw out your sarcastic jabs and blow people off all you want. You came in and tried to throw around software developer like people should be impressed and when people called you out on it you walked it back. It was pretty pathetic .

If I test drive a car and it drives like crap, that is a good enough sample experience-wise for me to decide I don't like it for reasons X Y Z.

I shouldn't have to spend a thousand dollars on a phone to find out what I already knew testing it in store. iPhones also have demo software. Please don't tell me that having a splash screen app drastically reduces the OS performance. That doesn't sound like great optimization, does it. Certainly doesn't bode well for heavier apps like FB & Messenger does it. Speaking of weak arguments, that essay's a zinger.

Lots of jabs at the software developer comment. Listen if you wanted to be more educated on the industry you could just go to university for it, it's really never too late. Don't settle for a job if you're not happy with it - there are always more jobs than people in this industry and we're always hiring.

I have an engineering degree. I don't need to take a couple night classes at the community college to become a "software developer".

I hear it's a stressful industry, never too late to switch. It's a 4 year degree though unfortunately. 5 if you want to do it with honours or whatever but tbh that's not really worth it. Awesome comeback though!!

Only stutter honestly from Sammy is multitasking with Google Maps running but honestly I'm willing to bet it's the same for IOS since it's such a memory hog.

But overall I see little lag and I have the note 9.

Sammy got it right with the s8 honestly going forward, lag is a s7 and before issue.

Having the S10, S10+, and the iPhone XS Max, I will say that I have yet to see any discernible difference in speed with day to day use on any of these. All three run flawlessly. All three run perfectly fine. Pick what you want.

If you want an iPhone, then the threads for that are about 12 links above the one to the “alternatives to iOS and iOS devices thread”. There is no reason to come into this thread just to attempt to feed egos and start a war.

I’m a software dev with a CS degree. You should trust me.

Glad someone said it. It’s just not true. Unless they are in some kind of parallel universe.

You are talking over your head now... SE users complain about their phone lagging yet you say it's smoother than a brand new S10?
Why did he even stop at the SE. I reckon his old iPhone 4 must be faster and smother that than the S10.
