thanks just picked it up. Very impressed the 120hz, bigger screen, 6gb, Face ID sideways, smaller bezel. Only downside is another type of connector to remind to carry. Usb-c is the way to go Though. I’ll be glad when everything is usb-c. Went with the 256gb lte. Don’t need the lte/gps but being a techno nerd it will bug me if it’s not there lol.

yes but the new connector will allow you to plug and power an external SSD if you want to.
The 11“ pro is the first iPad that I could see myself using in place of a laptop.
If only Apple would release Logic X pro for it.

Well, at least you can just buy a model with more storage if you need, up to a point. With RAM, there is only one option (aside from the iPad Pro 2018 1 TB model).
Technically, we do have options for more RAM since 2017 - the 2nd gen iPad Pros. It's just that some may consider even those higher options insufficient and bar 2018 1TB, you can't really upgrade RAM within a model line. You're pretty much stuck with RAM and storage tiers for specific models (7th gen 3GB/128GB max, Air 3 3GB/256GB max, 2020 Pro 6GB/1TB max).

Personally, an Air 3 with 6GB RAM and 1TB storage for $300-350 less than the 2020 Pro would suit me just fine (probably better battery life to boot). Alas, that's not exactly an option.

It will be a while. I suspect the Air 4 will be 4 GB RAM with 256 GB. And the Air 5 will be 4 GB with 512 GB.

6 GB with 1 TB? Maybe Air 6!

Lol, I didn't mean I'll wait until those features trickle down to the Air line. Probably just for 2021/22 iPad Pro 5G refresh (or discounted refurb 2018/2020 whichever the case may be). Here's hoping Apple includes 8GB+ RAM by then.

I’d say yes, but only if you get/need the magic keyboard.

The Magic Keyboard should definitely be looked at on a "how do I use my iPad" basis.

I found it to be a ridiculous design based on my usage. On the iPad, it's great for both protection while closed and the keyboard/trackpad are second to none in ergonomics and function. Where I part here is when one goes to use the iPad as a tablet. I scratch my head that the keyboard wasn't designed to fold backward. If the iPad is used for work as a tablet, one needs to remove it completely from the keyboard and carry the keyboard separately under the arm while walking around with the tablet -- now dangerously exposed to dropping. Even if at a desk, the tablet does not lay flat due to the idiotic camera bump.

I question the entire design and look at the Magic Keyboard as half-baked. If you plan to use your iPad as a desktop/laptop replacement and rarely use it as a tablet, then the keyboard would be a fine addition.

Fair point’s but I still think it is a miraculous accessory. I do take it off the case and use as a tablet but it immediately goes back in the MK when I’m mobile again. I’m not freely flinging a nearly thousand dollar device around like my dog treats his chew toys.

I just did this exact same upgrade. I’d had my 9.7 pro for a number of years and pulled the trigger

I found it to be a terrific upgrade
-first off the device is so much faster. The 9.7 may be a pro iPad but holy what a difference. The 2020 11” just flies so fluid and smooth
-it’s bigger. I know it’s only a couple of inches but it makes all the difference wow the screen is much bigger

one thing to realize is that the device is bigger, heavier. Once in a while I pick up my old 9.7 and I’m always surprised by how thin and light it is. This isn’t a negative, just a neutral observation.
I got the otter box case on the apple site (the wrap around one), works awesome. Protects the entire iPad and I’m a very happy camper
