Also, I suspect I'd not bother to activate 3G until I know I was going on a trip or something, then I'd shut it down the next month. Pretty handy, really. I just gotta decide whether to keep my 16gig base model reservation or hold out for a 3G model knowing

This is my problem too. I have the Wifi model on order right now, but the 3G model is very tempting. However the extra cost is not all that appealing, and the longer wait is even less appealing.

What I will likely do is keep my order the wifi model and if I ever need access and am not in a wifi area (which is rare for me) I will just wifi tether it to my Nexus One and have it get net access that way. I am not 100% sure this is entirely possible, but it should be.

From what I'm hearing about the data plan options the last few days, it actually can be $15/month (if you use up to 250MB in a 30 day period), $30/month (for unlimited usage), or something in between.

If you consistently use 83MB/week, then your 250MB runs out in 3 weeks. Instead of overages, which can happen with a limited cell phone data plan, you can then buy another 250MB of data which is good for a month. Or, in the above case, 3 weeks. So it then works out to $20/month, which is still cheaper than unlimited.
