Agreed. With its 1GHz processor the iPad is a good amount faster than the iPhone 3GS's 600MHz (that would be .6GHz) processor and thus the iPad will ironically make the 3Gs look slow.

That's right. And they do completely different things. Even when I'm watching a movie or listening to music or playing a game on my 3GS, some part of the system has to be "listening" for incoming cellular activity (phone calls, SMS, etc). Different devices with different system resource needs and uses.Ironically? They're different products. They are also different processors, so whilst no doubt the 1Ghz in the iPad is faster than the processor in the iPhone, you cannot compare speeds based on clock speeds of the processors alone.
There's obviously a difference in speed between the iPhone 3G and 3GS so I'm just wondering if the IPad is actually 3GS or not. I'm assuming it is but if that's the case, why don't they say that?
The S in 3GS stands for speed, but it is still a 3G phone, but with a faster CPU than the iPhone 3G.
The iPad has a faster CPU than any iPhone, thus no hint at 3GS has to be.
Look up the definition of the word 'irony'. S stands for speed, when it will in actuality be slower than the iPad. Capiche?ironically? Where is the irony in the Ipad making the 3Gs look slow?

Did you even watch the keynote?
Steve Jobs clearly stated iPad is in its own category between the mobile devices and the laptops. Remember that? The three tiers?
Yeah I watched it.
I was referring to the use I quoted, who compared the 3GS name with the iPad's speed.
The iPhone is on its own, thus the name 3GS is not ironical, just because the iPad is faster than the iPhone 3GS.
In my second sentence I even wrote, that each product is on its own.
I make the appropriate edits to convey some kind of sarcasm.
op. do you even know what 3g is? 3g is internet not ram. the s means a faster iphone 3g ram wise.

IS the OP's question - What speed will the 3G be?
Fair enough - It's worth also pointing it'll do below 3G also (e.g. GPRS, Edge).
...
My understanding was that the OP was asking whether the iPad was equipped to make the transition to 7.2 mbps 3G connection once AT&T finally upgrades their network.
...

No, his reading skills has nothing to do with the OP's bad writing skills. It's the OP's responsibility to be more specific and ask the right questions, not the other way around. You got that from this?
The question was nebulous, as speed can refer to more than CPU and network speed.
But if you're right, good reading skills!
