But how many hours you actually used the machine during that (not 72 hours I think)? I mean my point here is that I could have 3-4 weeks between charges with my MBP 13" 2019 if I did not use it much... :)
likely used it between 7-8 hours a day and never completely shut it down.

All depends how well you look after things I guess.

I treat my MBP, iPod and 11 like a baby, so all are virtually flawless lol.

there
Same experience as both of you. I had my late 2011 MBA for 9 years and had zero complaints about it. When Apple ended software support for it, it still ran very well. The body is well built and still looked like new when I sold it.

I have the M1 now, since October, and still runs and looks like new. Software wise, best I’ve ever seen and experienced. They did a great job designing this powerful machine.
my 2010 MacBook air took a fall oh 3 feet from a desk thanks to my kitten at the time.
the only implication was the keyboard ribbon was dislodged slightly were the q-p keys did not work.
I'm sure there are less wires, gaskets and better logic board connections than 2010 on the new M!
but i think the extra bezel does receive some shock if the MacBook does fall compared to the newer ones.

use my M1 on a tv tray in front of my chair while watching/listening to tv, had it charging while using it, lid open, dog ran by, got tangled in the cord, pulled the laptop off the tv tray on to the carpeted floor. my heart skipped a beat as i gently picked it up and checked it over. no apparent damage, no change in it's operation......WHEW !
You can get a magnetic USB-C cable. Works great with the small MBA charger.

Can't comment on the M1, but the 2020 Intel is very durable. My partner uses hers in the kitchen while cooking. The keyboard has seen all sorts of spices, rice and flour on it at times, and it's been fine.

Do you mean you actually used it for like 21-24 hours (I understood there was like 3 days from last charge?) and battery only went down to 40% during that?
Are you sure you used it on battery all that time? And it is standard MBA M1 with standard battery that comes with it or did yours come with a car battery? :)

Because I have MBA M1 and it can run on battery in actual use for something like 10-14 hours at most (I mean actual use, not that I let it sleep most of the time).
Battery use per hour in mine is around 7-10%, there is no way I could use it with only 2,5% battery use per hour in any way (maybe if turn display brightness to 0% it could be remotely possible but hard to use).

basically I do not use it for anything really exceptionally power hungry. mainly just web browsing, email and the occasional pages document. I charged it Thursday night when I went to bed and used it off and on Friday, Saturday and so far today, been up since 4 am and it still has 60% remaining, I do close the lid when I am not using it, and have the brightness on auto.

Well my battery use was also in light use, like browsing this forum (using Safari) and/or listening to music from Youtube (using Safari). So I have no idea how you get that huge battery life figures, as they seem to exceed by about 250% even Apple specifications which say 15-18 hours and those are already pretty stretch as even reviews often measured around 15 hours or so. That's why I asked if yours had car battery instead of standard battery... :D

Guys, this is a laptop used by hundreds of thousands daily.... just treat it well, avoid liquids and drops... a scratch here and there will add character to your laptop... the inside of it is what gets your work done. Honestly, if you spend that much time looking at the outside for imperfections you are wasting precious time taking advantage of what is inside to do your work ;)

I am very shocked by this battery life. I did not expect anything like that. I figured 5 or 6 hours would be good. hopefully it doesn't drop off like super quick, course even 10-15 hours would be amazing.

Well that would be considered normal for this model based on reviews and Apple specifications.

I have no idea how your's can mathematically run for 40 hours on battery (based on that estimated 2.5% battery use per hour from your reported run times earlier). I'd like to get one too. Anyone else getting those insanely high run times on battery in actual use? BTW, do not just look at OS reported battery use but estimate by real clock your actual use. For example mine reported in OS a while back some insanely high run time, can't remember exactly but it was like 5-10 hours on 10% battery use or similar which I have no idea where it pulled that cause I knew exactly how much I used it and it was nowhere near that...
